Greetings fellow SATC fans! Spring is just around the corner and, with less than three months to go, so is the long awaited SATC movie sequel! When SATC 2 hits theaters on May 28, we’ll finally know for sure what the writers have in store for our fave fashionistas, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes-Brady (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt (Kristen Davis). But until then, we’ll continue to bring you the latest buzz on the sequel to the 2008 box office smash.
SJP and Halston: The Fashion World’s New Power Couple
On the fashion front, it’s safe to say that we’ll be seeing SJP in a lot more Halston Heritage than just the $325 White v-neck jersey dress that she sports in the official SATC movie sequel poster.

The fashion world is aflutter with exciting news that the style icon has been appointed president and chief creative officer of the luxury label’s more budget-friendly brand. Launched just last year and now available at NET-A-PORTER, Halston Heritage quickly gained a loyal following among fashion A-listers such as Parker and Golden Globe winning model-turned-actress, Chloe Sevigny. And with news of SJP’s new role, combined with its prominence in the upcoming SATC movie sequel, Halston’s chic diffusion line is sure to experience skyrocketing success!
In the article, First Came Lindsay Lohan, Then Came Sarah Jessica Parker, NYMag.com reports that Sarah Jessica is taking an equity stake in the firm, a move that sets her apart from a number of recent entrants into the world of celebrity-endorsed clothing lines. For those who might dismiss SJP’s involvement as little more than a publicity ploy, the article quotes the actress’s first interview with WWD Sarah Jessica Parker's Halston Deal: Celebs Sweeping Fashion World, the preeminent industry insider that broke news of her new position in January.
Addressing the question of her qualifications, she stated,
“I would say it’s a good question and it’s a fair question,” adding, “You could make many arguments to why I am not qualified. I would say that I am very aware of the enormity of the titles, and how important they are, and my response is that they (the board) felt confident in their decisions.”
In the same WWD interview, this time cited by online interactive magazine Zimbio.com in its article Sarah Jessica Parker Named President and Chief Creative Officer at Halston, SJP exhibited her typical humility when discussing her newbie status with the line.
There is a huge amount I don’t know and I am very candid about that, and I am excited to learn. There are going to be things that come up that I am equipped to deal with and answer and respond to, and there are things that I will be happily mentored on by Bonnie (Bonnie Takhar, Halston CEO). I have no allergy to learning.
The ever stylish actress, who turns 45 on March 25 (Happy Birthday, SJP!) has already made a splash in her new executive role, appearing at the February 15 unveiling of Halston’s Autumn / Winter 2010 collection during New York Fashion Week. The much buzzed-about event also marked the debut of London-based fashion designer Marios Schwab as Halston’s creative director. The 33-year-old Schwab – who launched his own line in 2005, becoming an immediate favorite of Victoria Beckham and Kylie Minogue – presented a stunning array of structured pieces that reflected his penchant for sleek, body-conscious dressing.
Discussing his vision for the hotly anticipated collection, Schwab told WWD that the palette, which includes cool taupe, dusky blue and violet, was inspired by the 1978 thriller The Eyes of Laura Mars. He added, “I used the (original Halston) archive from memory, and I wanted to take elements that I love about Halston and transform them.”
We won’t see the first collection under SJP’s direction until this September when Halston unveils its Spring-Summer 2011 line. In the meantime though, take a peek below at the Halston Autum Winter 2010 footage from New York Fashion Week and let us know what you think! You’ll catch a glimpse of SJP at 00:18 looking stunning in a Metallic Gold Halston Heritage top and slim-fitting Black Leather pants.
SJP and Former SATC Stylist Choose Chanel for the Oscars
With her new title of president and chief creative officer at Halston, SJP probably surprised some style-watchers when she appeared at the Academy Awards on March 7, not in a piece from the timeless American line, but in Chanel Couture. Still, it’s hard to argue with the high-fashion appeal of the butter Yellow satine gown that was the talk of the Twitterverse as soon as she hit the red carpet (see Sarah Jessica Parker wows Twitter with Chanel at Oscars). The selection, which was one of the final looks of the Spring 2010 Chanel Couture show in January, was a collaborative effort between SJP and her longtime stylist, Tracy L. Cox. One of Hollywood’s most sought-after stylists, Cox is a former assistant to SATC stylist Patricia Field and worked on several episodes of the SATC series himself, including the unforgettable “An American in Paris.”
While the distinct Yellow hue of the SATC 2 star’s Oscar gown was a clear showstopper, viewers might have missed one of her more unexpected accessories. Amidst a wristful of Fred Leighton diamond bangles, SJP sported a temporary “bracelet” tattoo also from Chanel. According to a March 8 tweet from Glamour Fashion, the subtle accessory is from the fashion house’s limited edition, Spring “Les Trompe l’Oeil” temporary skin art collection. What a fun way to inject some edge into a lavishly feminine look! What did you think of SJP’s Oscar fashion choices? Was she a hit or a miss?
Casting News: Twenty-Something Hotties Stir Things Up!
In casting news, we reported in our Sex and the City Movie Sequel August update that British tabloid staple Katie Price had unsuccessfully auditioned for the role of Erin, a lesbian Irish nanny. Now comes word that the character will be played by a different British beauty, 28-year old blonde stunner Alice Eve. In an interview with MTV.com, Eve was coy about how her character will fit into the SATC 2 plot, saying, “I spice things up a bit,” then adding, “I’m in it to win it.” The actress, who stars in this month’s She’s Out of My League, did confirm that it is Charlotte who brings Erin on board for nanny duties, but revealed little else about the role including whether her scenes were shot in NYC, Morocco or both. Interestingly enough, we haven’t heard anything about the lesbian element since last summer. However, Variety in its October 2009 post, Alice Eve cast in Sex and the City 2, does report that Eve’s character will cause “tension among the ladies.” Theories, anyone?
Back in our October Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Latest News, we reported that British actor Max Ryan had scored a plum role as Rikard, a Danish architect who makes a love connection (or maybe it’s a lust connection!?) with our sultry PR maven, Samantha Jones. With the SATC movie sequel now in post-production, the debonair 43-year-old tells Hollywood Life exclusively that it wasn’t easy to keep up with Kim Cattrall’s sexy alter-ego. Attending the Global Green USA pre-Oscar party on March 3, he said, “It was a challenge. I have to be honest with you.”
We’ll have to wait until May 28 to find out whether Samantha and Rikard steam up the big screen, but it appears that the architect won’t be the only gentleman vying for her attention. In its February 2, 2010 gossip, Samantha's new 'Sex and the City' boy toy: Meet Noah Mills,” the LA Times reports that 26-year-old, Baltimore native Noah Mills will be generating some heat with Cattrall when he makes his acting debut as Nicky, a “tough but gorgeous blue-collar type.”
For Mills, SATC 2 marked more than just his big screen debut – it marked his first-ever audition! “That was the first audition. I put a lot of work in,” he said. Don’t be surprised if Mills looks familiar come May 28 though. He’s enjoyed an incredibly successful modelling career for seven years, working for designers such as John Galliano, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors. I thought I recognized those piercing eyes and chiselled cheekbones!
NYMag.com offers a few more deets about the model-turned-actor’s role, reporting that Nicky is the construction worker-brother of Charlotte’s gay BFF, Anthony Marantino (Mario Cantone) (see Noah Mills Plays a Construction Worker in Sex and the City 2). According to the online mag, Mills will be in at least two scenes, but only one will include a speaking part. The other, says Mills, is “a potentially more awkward scene.” Hmmm. Why am I having Gilles Marini flashbacks all of a sudden?
Kim Cattrall Talks ‘Script Secrets’ and ‘SATC 3’
Since news of the SATC movie sequel was confirmed back in Summer 2008, fans everywhere have been craving insider scoop on the SATC plot, casting, fashion and just about anything SATC-related. As the worldwide appetite for SATC secrets continues to grow, it’s not just we fans who are anxious for the wait to be over. According to the UK edition of Marie Claire magazine Kim Cattrall will be more than a little relieved when SATC 2 finally premieres and she no longer has to worry about keeping the film’s secrets under wraps (see Kim Cattrall sick of keeping SATC 2 story a secret).
The online edition of the popular fashion mag quotes Cattrall: “It’s crazy. You really have to be careful because I’ve signed my life away to say I won’t tell.” The 53-year-old actress, who is currently starring in the London production of Noel Coward’s Private Lives, said, “It gets to the point where you’re terrified to carry your script around just in case someone catches a glimpse of it,” adding “I’ll be glad when the movie is out so we can all relax.”
But even with the pressure of keeping the SATC movie sequel deets a secret, it appears that Cattrall would happily sign on for a third instalment of the SATC film franchise. In its gossip, Sex and the City set to continue, BANG Showbiz reports that the actress recently hinted at the possibility while discussing her experience filming SATC 2:
“It was fantastic. I think as long as we have stories to tell. It was very interesting because we did this series for six years and we ended it at the exact right time. We didn’t repeat ourselves.” She continued, “I think we’ll tell stories as long as they are there to tell.”
As for rumors of squabbles on the set? If they did indeed occur, we’re not hearing about them from Cattrall. On the contrary, Kim reportedly told British TV host Jonathon Ross, “This second one, I can tell you I’ve never had so much fun in my life!”
Going Going Gone! SJP Auctions Off SATC 2 Premiere Tickets for Charity
As if we don’t already have enough reasons to love Sarah Jessica Parker, now comes news that the starlet has parted with her own tickets to the upcoming SATC 2 movie premiere all in the name of charity. According to Hollywood Life, SJP auctioned off her very own premiere tickets at the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) Greater New York Human Rights Campaign’s 9th annual gala held at Manhattan’s Waldorf Astoria on February 6 (see HollyAwesome! Sarah Jessica Parker Donates Her Own ‘SATC2′ Premiere Tickets to Charity!). A long-time supporter of the LGBT, Parker presented Time Warner with the prestigious corporate equality award. The two premiere tickets fetched an impressive $11,000 for the HRC which, with more then 750,000 members and supporters, is the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization in the country. Kudos to the lucky (and generous) bidder who is now the proud owner of SJP’s SATC premiere tickets! It should be the experience of a lifetime! (And if you’re looking for another to fan to accompany you, I’m sure that one of our ChicAlert readers would be more than happy to do so! LOL
Chris Noth Kisses and a ‘Big’ Tickle: All for a Good Cause!
Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t the only charity-minded SATC star these days. Less than a month after his on-screen love’s successful auction of her own SATC 2 premiere tickets, Chris Noth (Mr. Big) is upping the ante with a pretty alluring prize of his own. This year’s Miscast gala, an annual fundraiser for New York’s MCC Theater, featured an auction which included, among other items, a walk-on role on Noth’s hit CBS drama (and my fave new show!) The Good Wife. The New York Post has reported that Noth took things into his own hands when bidding began to die down. According to the Post, the 55-year-old actor leapt up from his chair and declared, “We’ll make it a nude scene. I’ll take off my shirt.” And if that didn’t sweeten the deal enough, he added, “And I’ll give the winner lots of kisses – and a good tickle.” In the end, the winning bid went for $6,000, money that will directly support the prestigious and innovative off-Broadway theater company. I wonder if it was the tickle that cinched it!
That’s all for now my fellow SATC fans! Stay tuned for more SATC movie sequel updates in the coming weeks as publicity around the movie starts to really ramp up. We’ll be bringing you “all things SATC” as we count down the days until May 28 when Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte are back in their Louboutins in theaters worldwide!
