However, like for many, its been another tough year, money wise at least. Zara Opens in Melbourne Australia

The press have reported the frenzied launch of the Spanish clothing giant Zara in Australia as "Zara fever" (see the news.com.au article Zara fever: 'Never seen anything like it'). We first saw it back in April when Zara opened its first store in Australia at Westfield Sydney in Pitt Street and today it was Melbourne's turn with Zara opening in Bourke Street.

For this store opening Zara wasn't taking any chances so it flew in extra staff from overseas to handle the anticipated crowds. And a crowd there truly was when fashion craving Melbournian fashionistas, both men and women, waited in queues all day, some for up to nine hours before the store opened. They waited and waited for their turn to bag some of the opening Zara fashion bargains. It was like the Boxing Day sales! Even with a limit of ten items per customer, the shelves of classic dresses, coats, jeans and knitwear were quickly cleared but routinely replenished. As what happened at the Zara opening in Sydney, it didn't take long at all, in fact within a few minutes of opening, most of the shelves had been cleared. There is little doubt that the long queues will be back tomorrow.

This is really all amazing when you consider that other fashion retailers around the country have shown poor sales results so far in 2011 and some, for example Colorado, even closing down. But what's all the fuss about when it comes to Zara? Simple! Zara means the latest and affordable, fashionable clothing.

Makeup addicts, the Hot Hot Hot MAC Cosmetics and Estée Lauder Warehouse Sale is on again at the Markham Fairgrounds, Ontario so it's the perfect time to stock up on discounted MAC and Estee Lauder items. Sadly tickets for this event are only available to employees and those in the industry such as makeup artists and their invited guests, family and friends. I have also known some lucky makeup and cosmetic lovers to get their invite from store associates but don't hold your breath on this one as spare invites are scarce as hens teeth. Having said this, we are trying to get invites as giveaways for some of our followers, so stay tuned.

You can also sometimes purchase tickets for this sale on sites like eBay and Kijiji. If you decide to purchase a ticket you could pay anything from $15 to $50 a ticket and the earlier you buy the more expensive and the later you try to buy the less likely you will find one. I guess one could argue that because of the amazing savings you can get at the MAC Cosmetics and Estée Lauder Warehouse Sale (up to 80% off MSRP at MAC counters), even paying $50 is well worth it. However, personally I don't like or encourage this for a number of reasons. Firstly, for obvious reasons, this is frowned upon by both MAC Cosmetics and Estée Lauder. Secondly, tickets have the name of the employee on them so they could get into real strife and perhaps even loose their job! Whatever you do, do try to get a ticket for the Friday rather than the Sunday as I'm sure you'll appreciate with these sales you have a much better choice (e.g. of shades) earlier in the sale.

Well Fashionistas, it’s time once again for me to share with you my Old Navy picks of the month. If you read last month’s post, Dress for Less at Old Navy, you’ll recall that I was thrilled to become part of the Old Navy Blogger Subscription Program. It’s pretty simple: Once a month, Old Navy sends me a $100 gift card to use at OldNavy.com or in an Old Navy retail store. In return, I share with you the details about my purchases along with my honest opinions – whether good or bad.

Last month, I used up my $100 gift card on a gorgeous Brown, wool-blend, double-breasted coat ($89.50 plus tax). So this time my plan was to zip past the outerwear section and head straight to the denim area. After all, you can never have too many pairs of jeans. ;-) So much for that idea! As it turned out, I abandoned my plan within a few seconds of walking into the store.

Old Navy: Orange prep coat

There before me, prominently displayed on one of the front entrance mannequins, was an eye-popping Orange pea coat (see photo immediately above). With its cheery color and classic cut, I fell for it right away. Don't those visual merchandisers and in-store stylists earn their keep!!! Although there were plenty of hues to choose from, including Black, Navy Blue and a Cream / Gray Plaid, I opted for the Orange, aka “Golden Gate” as it was described on the Old Navy website. I have to admit that I own a LOT of coats and jackets, so I it’s not like I needed a new one. However, in a closet that is a sea of Black and Brown, I figured that Orange pea coat would add a welcome punch of color.

I bought a size small and would say that this Old Navy wool-blend “prep coat” runs true to size. Since I can comfortably wear a blazer or a chunky knit sweater underneath, it might even run a tad on the large side. As with the wool-blend coat that I purchased last month, the sleeves are quite long as well. This was a selling point for me since I have very long arms and too-short sleeves are always a problem. Another selling point was the cute back-waist belt with double button detailing. Pea coats aren’t exactly cut to create a shapely silhouette, so the little belt gives it a nice feminine touch.

This Old Navy prep coat is made of 50% polyester, 38% recycled wool and 12% other fiber with polyester lining. Regularly priced at $59.50, I lucked out and got it for the newly reduced sale price of $45.

Old Navy: French Violet, chunky knit, pom pom scarf

Having fallen hard for the whole mannequin display, I also bought the Black, chunky knit, pom pom scarf to complete the look (the photo immediately above shows the scarf in French Violet). Although 100% acrylic, this stylish scarf is surprisingly soft. It’s also super-long – more than five feet! (I adore long scarves because they let me play with so many different tying options.) For just $10, reduced from the regular price of $12.50, there was no way I could go wrong with this purchase. I chose the Black pom-pom scarf to complement the six Black buttons on my new coat, but the scarf is also available in Aqua Sparkle, Mole (Brown), Heather Charcoal, Royal Flush (Royal Blue), Warm Sunset, Bright Idea (a Neon-y Yellow Green), and, my personal fave, French Violet (shown above).

My next pick was my best deal of the day. If someone had told me last month that I would be buying a pair of boots that cost only $15, I would have laughed and said, “You’ve got the wrong girl.” I’ll buy cheaper discount versions of just about anything – sweaters, tees, pants, jeans – but I’ve never been one to scrimp on footwear. That all changed when I saw a rack of chic “sweater boots” in the middle of the store (see photo below).

Old Navy: Adoraboots

These boots, which are called “Adoraboots” (great name!) on the Old Navy website, come in Black, Dark Gray, Concrete and Brown. They have the look of a chunky rib knit sweater and open on the side with four buttons that are simply too stylish to be hidden under a pair of pants. I bought the Brown boots to go with my Old Navy Brown coat (purchased last month) , and plan to wear them with leggings or skinny jeans, tucked in to show off the buttons and rib-knit of course! I typically wear a narrow size 7, and these fit me perfectly. On sale for $15, they are regularly priced at $34.50. I don’t expect them to last more than a season, but that’s okay. So what if they’re not an investment piece? They’re trendy, fun and comfortable. Sold!

With three purchases in hand, I had just $30 left on my $100 Old Navy gift card. Still being fairly new to the Old Navy experience, I assumed that this wouldn’t have left me with many options in the denim section. Wrong again. (Are you starting to see a pattern here? LOL.)

Now it’s confession time: Like coats and jackets, I own a LOT of jeans – not “a lot” as in “one for every day of the week,” but rather “a lot” as in dozens upon dozens. Over the years, I’ve built a denim collection that includes almost every designer label. Consequently, I’ve come to think of myself as a bit of an unofficial expert in this area. So, with my pretend credentials (“designer jeans expert extraordinaire!”) to back me up, I was excited to see what Old Navy has to offer.

Old Navy: The Diva Skinny Jeans

In short, there is pretty much something for everybody. Whether you’re looking for skinny jeans, boot cut, trousers, flared or denim leggings, chances are that you’ll find something you like for between $29.50 and $39.50. Right now, you can even get some styles, such as the Moto Skinny Jeans and the Diva Skinny Buttoned Jeans, both regularly $34.50, for just $14.99 on sale.

After looking through the many options available to me, I ultimately settled on The Diva Skinny for $29.50 (see photo above). It’s a classic, five-pocket style that comes in Black, Rinse, and, my pick, Dark Blue. While I’m not particularly tall (not quite 5’5”), my long legs require me to always purchase jeans with a minimum 34” inseam. At Old Navy, this means “long.” I bought a size 2 and am satisfied with the fit, although we’ll have to see how they stand up over time. They’ve been pre-washed for extra softness which is always a bonus, and I was happy to see that they have a bit of spandex (2%) for stretch. My only disappointment with the denim section was that there weren’t any jeans with back pocket detailing. Of course, they may have all sold out at my local Old Navy store. Anyway, I usually aim for some back pocket embellishment like raised buttons or intricate stitching because I have a less than ample rear view. In other words, whatever I can do to give my flat-as-a-pancake bottom some substance, I’ll take it! While my new Old Navy skinnies aren’t going to replace my fave booty-boosting designer jeans, they’re a good fit, comfortable, and definitely a good value.

Those are my picks for this month, Chic Alert readers! I’ll be back next month with more, just in time for the holiday season. (I predict at least one purchase with sequins. LOL.) Lanvin for H&M Is A Sellout

The Lanvin for H&M collection was out on the racks in stores in North America on November 20 and its worldwide release on November 23. As expected, early indications are that the Lanvin for H&M collection is going to be a massive sellout at most stores worldwide. With stores opening at 9:00am, queues began forming very early in the morning and, as reported by The London Evening Standard (see Shoppers queue overnight for Lanvin range at H&M) some even the night before (e.g. London's Oxford Circus, Regent Street).

Not only were there queues going around the block for the coveted designer collection, but also the H&M online site was struggling to keep up with the demand from online shoppers wanted to avoid the queues. In fact, it became impossible or at best most difficult to get on and eventually when you could, after clicking the BUY NOW button you more than likely would see the Sold out message: "The items have sold out during the day."

The same fate was found for many in-stores with the collection selling out within one or two hours. In fact, the Dubai Mall reported that the Lanvin for H&M collection sold out in just 10 minutes!!! As well as ransacking and clearing the racks, mannequins were stripped naked. Videos of the opening are already starting to appear. Of course the news wasn't all bad as some lucky shoppers managed to cash out and purchase a number of pieces from the much sought after designer collection, and judging from early reports, some it would seem with more than their fair share. I just checked on eBay and as can be expected there are already hundreds of Lanvin for H&M items being auctioned off, even the popular, Lanvin for H&M Pink Cocktail Dress, the Lanvin for H&M Signature Purse Clutch and the Lanvin for H&M Faux Fur Coat Jacket are up for grabs.

H&M has also recommended that we check stores over the weekend for returns as the next best way to pick up those sold out items. One warning though, reports are that some shoppers spent as much on Lanvin for H&M as they might have on the real Lanvin :(

Lanvin for H&M Available In-stores and Online

Well fashionistas, the wait is finally over as tomorrow is November 23rd and that's the day that the much anticipated Lanvin for H&M collection will hit stores. And the good news is, as was anticipated (see Lanvin for H&M the Full Collection), as well as being able to purchase the collection at selected H&M Stores from 9am tomorrow, it will also be available at H&M online from 7:00am. This is great as we can avoid the long queues and shopping frenzy that these designer collaborations usually involve.

Lanvin for H&M Collection Finally Released

Yes, we've seen the H&M images, we've seen the promotional videos and we've even seen a backstage film shoot for the designer collaboration but now, after all the sneak-peek teasers, this covetted collection will be available to purchase at the cheap chic, high-street global retail chain H&M. Well we've had plenty of time to check out the collection and work out the pieces that we might be interested in, so it's now time to shop. I can't wait!

Lanvin for H&M Haute Couture Auction

H&M are also running an interesting fashion auction in which you can bid for exclusive haute couture creations customized out of pieces from the Lanvin for H&M collection as well as Alber Elbaz's original five signed sketches for the collection. These special pieces were showcased by celebrity models, Pixie Geldof, Olga and Anna Dello Russo and Dree Hemingway, during the exclusive couture fashion show at the Lanvin for H&M celebration held last Friday at the ballroom of The Pierre Hotel in New York. Guests at this celebration party included Sofia Coppola, Andie MacDowell, and Elettra Wiedemann among others. Below are two video clips with red carpet A-list celebrity interviews and catwalk footages from the Lanvin for H&M haute couture auction:

My Christian Louboutin Purchase!

Most will know that the super-exclusive Christian Louboutin biannual Sample Sale was held this week at Louboutin's Showroom in NYC. And by “super exclusive,” I mean that only those shoe-a-holics that were lucky enough to receive one of the coveted invitations could attend (see: Christian Louboutin Sample Sale - Invitation!!!). News of this Christian Louboutin event started me thinking about my own journey toward a pair of Loubies. It’s one that perhaps you, my fellow shoe-a-holics, can relate.

The Stores Delivery Packaging

Although I’ve been fashion-obsessed for years, I’m embarrassed to say that Christian Louboutin wasn’t even on my radar until about 2007. Yes, I owned a few pairs of Stuart Weitzman pumps, and had gushed longingly over countless Manolos and Jimmy Choos, yet I had somehow managed to go breezily about my days completely oblivious to the fabulousness of all things Louboutin! Then everything changed. I remember it like it was yesterday: I was home channel-surfing when I came upon a TV show featuring famed stylist Stacy London of What Not to Wear. It was called Fashion Fanatic, and I was immediately hooked. Compared to most of the other fashion programs on television, this one provided an in-depth look at various aspects of the industry with Stacy providing a behind-the-scenes peek at how our favorite designer pieces are made. Anyway, the episode that I will never forget was the “shoes and handbags” one. It was in this episode that Stacy, on location in Paris of course, introduced me to the magic of Christian Louboutin and his signature red sole, exploring the craftsmanship and creativity of the entire shoe-making process from initial concept through to the final creation. From that moment on, I knew that I would someday have to have a pair of Christian Louboutins.

Fast forward to last March when an otherwise cold and rainy day was suddenly brightened by an unexpected e-mail. Sometimes I think that I subscribe to just about every designer clothing and accessories mailing list in existence. Because I receive so many of these e-mails and don’t have time to read all of them during an average work day, I usually flag them to check them out later in the evening. Not today. Not when I opened my in-box to those three little words in big, bold type: “Christian Louboutin Sale!” This wasn’t just any sale – it was a flash sale, beginning at 12:00 noon sharp, with up to 60% off Christian Louboutin designer shoes! However, my initial euphoria was quickly dispelled when I remembered that I would be on a conference call at 12:00 noon. How was I going to make this work? I knew I couldn’t reschedule the call, but there was NO WAY that I was going to miss this sale. So, I immediately e-mailed a colleague who was also scheduled to be on the call, and basically said, “Hey, I’m going to be kind of silent around noon, so can you do me a favor and start talking a lot? Try to be as long-winded as you can because I don’t want anyone to realize that I’ve dropped off the call.” As much as I pride myself on being a multi-tasker, I knew that I would have to focus if I was going to snag a pair of Loubies in my size before they sell out. The conference call would just have to do without me.

My first look inside a Christian Louboutin Shoe Box

So there I was, sitting in front of my computer at 11:59 am, hitting the refresh button every two seconds until the big moment arrived. The sale had begun! Ignoring the work discussion that was emanating from my speaker phone, I set my sights on pages of extraordinary Christian Louboutin pumps, wedges, sandals and boots. Who knew that an online shopping experience could elicit so many emotions at once – exhilaration, anxiety, disappointment, glee…I felt all of them. No sooner would my heart jump with excitement than it would sink back down with the realization that yet another “perfect pair” wasn’t available in my all-too-common size 37. This happened over and over until, just as I was about to resign myself to the fact that my Loubie dreams would have to wait for another day, I saw them – a pair of size 37 Christian Louboutin platform sandals! Who cares that they’re fire engine red – a color that is decidedly far outside my classic style comfort zone? The same goes for the platform heel. So what if I have some problems walking? They’re Loubies!

I breezed through the checkout in record time, entering my credit card information with an intensity that my poor little keyboard hasn’t felt since. And then it arrived: The confirmation e-mail with the tracking number, telling me that they were shipped! I was so excited. Even with the mega-sale, the total charge to my card was $409.95. Not exactly a bargain basement price, but still more than 60% off and not far off the prices in this week's Christian Louboutin Sample Sale. My mission had been accomplished, and I refused to feel any guilt about my extravagance! My first post-purchase activity was to re-join the conference call, but I couldn’t concentrate. I was too excited. So, instead of participating in the discussion, I sent an e-mail to my colleague (who was still “covering for me” on the call) with the subject heading, “Shoes!!!” and the message, “I BOUGHT LOUBIES!!!” yes in all caps. Being a shopaholic himself, he shared my joy with a hearty e-mail congratulations while he continued to take the lead in the work-related conference call that was still going on.

It was only two days before my designer shoes arrived at my door. This in itself was a fantastic surprise since I had expected the shipping to take longer. I tore open the store's huge cardboard box and removed the duster bag to see the top of the shoe box. There it was, “Christian Louboutin,” written in that unmistakable Christian Louboutin font. I was beside myself with giddiness. I opened the box to see the most extraordinary red sandals that I could imagine. They looked exactly like the photo on the website – insanely high heels, sumptuous leather, precision stitching and, of course, the trademark Louboutin red sole. I had no idea where on earth I was going to wear them, but again, I didn’t care. I owned a pair of Christian Louboutin sandals and all was right with the world!

Rather, all was right with the world until I tried them on. In a sad scene reminiscent of one of Cinderella’s stepsisters trying desperately to squeeze her big, clunky foot into the delicate glass slipper, I had to accept the fact that my Loubies were too small. Even worse, I knew that I had no one to blame but myself. The website had clearly indicated that Christian Louboutin footwear runs small, and that we should order a half-size larger than we normally wear. But oh no, I chose to ignore their direction simply because I’ve had to go down a half-size with a few purchases in the past. What was I thinking?!

I was beyond disappointed. However, after a few hours of wallowing in self-pity, I went to the website to see if I could do a straight exchange for a half-size larger. No such luck. Everything was sold out. So, I packed them up, filled out the shipping form and brought them down to the UPS Store to return them for a refund. Then the funniest thing happened. After a couple of days I received an unexpected knock at my door. Opening it I saw a smiling delivery person holding the same big cardboard box that I had brought down to the UPS Store just a few days before. Although I had affixed the proper shipping form to the top of the package, I had forgotten to remove the original “Ship To” form from the side. They had shipped the fire engine red Loubies back to me :-) It seems that the shoe Gods definitely wanted me to have them! But sadly, I had to say goodbye to them once more and so I went through the whole process again and soon after I received an e-mail indicating that they have been received in good order and that the refund would be credited to my card.

From start to finish, the whole experience was a comedy of errors with highs and lows. I still don’t own a pair of Christian Louboutins, but I know the day will come eventually. As much as I hate to admit it, the end result was probably for the best. Being fire engine red, it would have been an awfully big expense for something that I might have worn only once or twice. I’m still very committed to getting a pair though! However, until I can find an equally amazing sale in a color that’s more “me” (Black!), my Loubie journey is on hold. When it finally happens though, I know that it will have been well worth the wait!

Christian Louboutin Sample Sale - Invitation!!!

Christian Louboutin Sample Sale

As many will know the Chistian Louboutin biannual Sample Sale is one of those secret designer sales. Originally this sale was rumored to take place on Thursday, November 11 (see: Manolo Sale Scheduled for Same Day as Rumored Louboutin Sale). But now, the latest news is that it is to take place next week, from November 17 to 19 at Louboutin's NYC Showroom, 306 West 38th Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues), 14th Floor, New York, NY (see: Louboutin Sample Sale, NEXT WEEK). The first day is usually for VIPs including Editors and Media, then it's the private sale for friends and family and those in the know. Either way you have to be on the List as this is an exclusive, private and invite-only sample sale (see: The Christian Louboutin Sale Is Like Bungalow 8 When It Was Cool). And what's more, if you're not on the list then don't bother as with the honcho security guards, you just won't get in without an invite (see: Christian Louboutin Sample Sale - Don't Bother Attending if You're Not On the List). So with discounts of up to 70-80%, (from as low as $100 for a pair of covetted Louboutins, compared to the normal retail price of upwards of $500, and sometimes at Louboutin boutiques and authorized retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue department stores, you can expect to pay thousands of dollars depending on the style) what shoeaholic wouldn't just die to be on that List!!!

So I ask, who would love an invite? Would you love to get your hot little hands on a pair of those luxurious designer shoes with an authentic signature red-sole for $100 or so? Since the announcement by cheap chic, high-street global retail chain H&M in early September that fashion powerhouse Lanvin was going to be it's next high-fashion designer collaboration (see Exclusive Lanvin Designer Collection for H&M), we've seen a number sneak-peek teasers on the collection including some images and promotional videos, and even a film shoot backstage for the collaboration. But now, just a few minutes ago, the much anticipated Lanvin for H&M collection was officially released on the H&M website. And what can we say? Everything that we all expected in a Lanvin designer collection. It's all there!! Lanvin, feminine, luxury and stylish while at the same time being cheap chic!! Yes, Alber Elbaz you have managed to translate that dream you created at Lanvin to a wider audience!

Lanvin for H&M the Collection

As we previously reported, the Lanvin for H&M designer collection includes both womenswear and menswear lines. The womenswear collection includes 30 items and 15 accessories while the menswear collection has 25 pieces and 10 accessories. In the designer womenswear collection we have formal dresses, colorful frocks and flirty skirts, a tuxedo, beautiful faux fur jacket and trench coats in black and zebra print, tees in graphic print and tights. The accessories line includes shoes, bags, jewelery (earrings, necklaces, bracelets), sunglasses, belts, gloves and a lipstick. The Lanvin for H&M collection for me includes shirts, t-shirts, cardigans, blazers, pants, and trench coats. The men's accessories includes ties, bow ties, caps and shoes. The Lanvin for H&M designer collection is certainly colorful and chic. It's classy and sophisticated as Lanvin is classically well known to be and as Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M has said "it is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men."

The Lanvin for H&M collection will be available on the racks in stores in North America on November 20 followed by its worldwide release on November 23. Oh I can't wait but I'm not looking forward to the long queues and shopping frenzy. It's because of this that all this pre-launch stuff is great as it gives us all a chance to think about our selections and plan our purchases in advance. But then again a better option might be to purchase at H&M online. The collection will be available for shipping from 07:00 on November 23rd.

Stella McCartney for Target

Today, Friday 29 October, Target Australia released its latest Designers For Target Collection and it's the second time that this collaboration is with Stella McCartney. With the overwhelming response to the 2007 Stella McCartney for Target collection (see Stella McCartney Designer Discount Clothes on Target), in fact their were riots at some store locations, there can be little doubt that this second Stella McCartney for Target range will be very popular with Australian fashionistas.

Whereas the first Stella McCartney for Target collection primarily had a daywear focus, this second Stella McCartney for Target collection has definitely more of an evening wear pitch with affordable and well-tailored pretty cocktail dresses and feminine lace and satin separates, tulip skirts, blazers, cropped cigarette pants and skinny jeans in simple colour palettes and neutral shades.

As was the case with the first Stella McCartney for Target collaboration, although a limited collection, what I like about this Stella McCartney collection is that even with a few garments, say a couple of jackets and tops, a pair of designer jeans, and a skirt or two, you can easily mix and match to create a number of very different, sassy and chic, designer fashion outfits.

The range looks impressive and reports coming in already indicate that this Stella McCartney for Target collection will be a designer fashion sale sell-out at Target stores around the country as it was in March 2007 for the first Stella McCartney for Target release.

Lanvin for H&M

In our post, Exclusive Lanvin Designer Collection for H&M back in early September, we wrote about how the Paris-based and luxury, super chic Lanvin was going to be H&M's next high-fashion designer collaboration. We reported that the Lanvin H&M collection will go on sale on November 23 in 200 H&M stores worldwide. However, the launch is now only 5 days away when the collection will be seen for the first time on the H&M website but to build up publicity and while doing so whet our appetites, already some leaks are starting to be released.

First, there's the following video clip in which fashion model/actress Natasha Poly talks about the line while backstage on the set of the Lanvin for H&M campaign shoot. The images are deliberately blurred no doubt to hide the Lanvin for H&M collection being worn by the models. However, do not despair....

As the Huffington Post in its article, Lanvin For H&M Sneak Peek Revealed and Vouge in the article, Lanvin For H&M have reported, the cheap chic, high-street global retail chain H&M has already revealed a couple of images from the collection.

In particular, the image above from the launch shows four models wearing completely black Lanvin H&M outfits, frightfully sexy in Black and accessorized with Black sunglasses and some with white pearl necklaces. Starting from the left, the first model is wearing a nothing short of stunning Black Taffeta one-shoulder dress with the most beautiful tulip styled short Juliet sleeve over the left shoulder. The dress is short and hits high above the knees and also features a wide black belt. I'm really excited about this Lanvin for H&M dress. The next model is wearing a two-tone Black matt and satin coat with belt and a feature collar. The third model is wearing a Black low-cut Tuxedo jacket with a Satin-look lapel over a Black Satin mini-skirt that once again hits high above the knees for that 'killer' look. The fourth model, Natasha Poly, is wearing a Black sleeveless ruffled dress again hitting high above the knees and featuring a wide black belt. So most are flirty LBDs hitting high above the knees and you can definitely see the Lanvin cut and tailoring in these pieces with a definite focus on form and detail.

For more clues about the soon-to-be-released Lanvin for H&M collection this is what Lanvin's Alber Elbaz said last month:

And then the phone rang. I said, "Hello? Hello?" And it was H&M on the phone. I thought, "H&M?" They actually told me, "Alber, you make so many people dream in fashion. Let's try to see if you can't translate that dream to a bigger audience." And we created a dream and I hope it makes you feel good. Just take a floral dress, take a tuxedo. Just enjoy this kind of tulle and T-shirts and printed dresses. We wanted to have more people around the world be able to afford it, and that's why I was behind the project and I hope you like it.

When I saw the final samples that H&M brought, after a couple of months of working on them, I almost got a panic attack. I mean, they were so good. I couldn't see the difference between the originals and what H&M re-created. I realize more and more how important, though, is what we are going to do and what we are doing at Lanvin today. It is the difference between creating and re-creating. Whatever took me nine years to create was actually re-created in three months, and it was done in an amazing way. And the importance of experimenting and trying to find solutions and to go higher and higher because this is actually the essence of high fashion.

So when Alber saw the final collection they were so good he couldn't see the difference between the originals and what H&M re-created. Like I said back in September, "H&M going luxury, oh I can't wait for this much anticipated collection." In the meantime, stay tuned as we'll bring you more updates on the Lanvin for H&M collection very soon. Alber Elbaz filled the runway with a mix of classy and chic long pleated skirts split open at the sides, pantsuits and elongated jackets. Dress for Less at Old Navy

Greetings Chic Alert readers! Like many of you, I’m a card-carrying shopaholic with the overstuffed closet of clothing, shoes and handbags to prove it. While I’ve indulged my inner diva by splurging on a few high-end designer labels over the years (either by saving up or by maxing out my credit cards at those designer fashion sales!), most of my purchases are pretty strategic. I put my shopping dollars toward stylish, quality items that will amp up my wardrobe without breaking the bank. So it might come as a surprise that, among all of my skirts, sweaters, jeans and tees, there isn’t one single piece from Old Navy!

Well, all that changed recently when I was asked to be part of the Old Navy Blogger Subscription Program. It’s pretty simple really. Once a month, Old Navy generously provides me with a $100 gift card to use at OldNavy.com or in an Old Navy retail store. In return, I share with you, all of the details about my Old Navy purchase and my overall shopping experience -- whether good or bad. Pretty cool, huh?

Before I get to my pick, I have a confession to make. While almost all of my friends are Old Navy “regulars,” I’ve always walked past the store without the slightest desire to see what all the fuss is about. I suppose that my indifference had more to do with my pre-conceived notions about the quality than anything else. After all, with such low prices, surely Old Navy clothing won’t last more than a couple of day or night outs, right?

Wrong! My initiation into Old Navy was a pleasant surprise. True, the store isn’t exactly filled with designer fashion investment pieces. However, if you’re looking for comfortable, on-trend items that provide good value for your dollar, you won’t be disappointed. From this season’s hot swing coat sweaters to eye-catching studded handbags, there is no shortage of enticing finds. Of course, taking my “mission” very seriously, I didn’t hit the store without conducting some preliminary research. After visiting OldNavy.com to get a sense of the styles, colors and prices that would be awaiting me upon my in-store arrival, it was clear that I would have my work cut out for me. There were fab ankle-zip skinny cargo pants, some chic tie-belt cardigans, luxe-looking faux fur boots… and the list goes on. Within minutes, I had fallen for items from almost every category. Among my faves were a Black, Cropped, Toggle-Button “Jet Setter” Cape-Style Sweater with dolman sleeves, a pair of Two-Button Tweed Trousers, and some cotton and spandex Navy Blue and Turquoise Fold-Over Yoga Pants. Decisions, decisions! Ultimately though, it was the wide selection of coats and jackets that impressed me more than anything. (Okay, time for another confession here: My interest in Old Navy coats and jackets was more than a little bit prompted by the fact that reality star Kristin Cavallari and 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord have been spotted in the same Red Old Navy Ruffled Pea Coat during the past month (see: Sexy in the city: Kristin Cavallari is a vision in red in NYC!). After all, if Old Navy outerwear is chic enough for two of Hollywood’s It Girls, it has to be worth a look!)

Always one to prefer one big purchase to a bevy of smaller ones, I spent my $100 Old Navy Gift Card on a single item – a classic Double-Breasted, Wool-Blend Coat (see pics below) that is as functional as it is fashionable and which will no doubt see me through several autumns to come. It's available in Brown, Infuschion, Black and Cream. Sure, I could have gotten a couple of sweaters and leggings for the same price, but I don’t regret my decision one bit. This Old Navy coat is gorgeous!! For starters, the double-breasted style is absolutely timeless while the slightly darted waist gives it an ultra-feminine silhouette. The back-waist belt accentuates an hourglass figure even further, giving this coat a “twirl-worthy” feel. On the practical side though, the big selling point for me was the deep button side-flap pockets! They’ll provide plenty of room for my gloves without looking the least bit bulky. I’ve amassed quite a collection of coats and jackets through the years, and have never understood why more designers don’t include pockets! The classic spread collar is also perfect for transitional fall-to-winter dressing since it can be worn with or without a scarf. Oh, and did I mention that this luxe looking coat is fully lined?

Old Navy, Double-Breasted, Wool-Blend Coat

I purchased a Size Small and would say that it runs true to size. If you purchase your regular size, you should be able to wear it over both suiting and relatively thick sweaters without feeling constricted. I’m almost 5’5”, and this Old Navy coat falls just above my knee, making it the perfect topper for this season’s over-the-knee boots. I also have very long arms, and was thrilled that the sleeves fall below my wrist as they should (too-short sleeves are a pet peeve of mine). At $89.50 US plus tax, my first-ever Old Navy purchase looks and feels far more expensive than it is.

This classy Old Navy coat will be an excellent addition to your autumn wardrobe. Keep in mind that, unless you live in an especially warm area of the country, it probably won’t be thick enough to take you through winter. However, I saw plenty of heavier options that will see you through those dreaded frigid temperatures in style.

To say that my first-ever Old Navy shopping experience was a pleasant surprise would be an understatement. Aware of the brand’s popularity among “tweens” and teenagers, I had always assumed that Old Navy would have little to offer my demographic: the young professional who is looking for style and quality at an affordable price. Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong! This was my first Old Navy experience, but it certainly won’t be my last. If you’re a professional, style-savvy woman in your 20s or 30s, I’d highly recommend a trip to Old Navy if you haven’t made one already!

And before I forget, the staff at my local Old Navy store were fantastic – very helpful, but not at all pushy. My sales associate advised me of all of the current sales and was highly knowledgeable about the company and the products. As a fun aside, she even knew about the recent paparazzi shots of Cavallari and McCord in Old Navy, adding that Eva Longoria Parker (see Eva Longoria Parker in Old Navy: Fashion Designers InStyle) and Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford have been spotted in Old Navy as well!

Old Navy has definitely found a new fan in this fashionista! I can’t wait to come back next month with my new Old Navy picks. Brian Atwood Discounted Designer Shoes Label

It’s not often that a fashion trend emerges, gains momentum, and shows no signs of slowing down. Sure, we’ll see some designer trends remain on the fashion forecast from one year to the next (witness the staying power of last Fall’s over-the-knee boots and military-inspired styles), but it’s the rare runway look that just gets hotter and hotter, earning a unanimous “I have to have it!” from fashionistas of all styles, shapes and sizes.

However, if there’s one Fashion “Do” that we can all agree on, it has to be the recent surge in lower-priced diffusion lines by the top names in designer clothing and designer shoes, and even designer handbags and accessories. After all, while we might not be able to afford the luxe, premiere lines by our favorite fashion designers, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to own a coveted designer name with an affordable price tag? I know I would. (Hey, I’m still giddy over my $50 cardigan from the Zac Posen for Target designer collection that launched this past spring!) Being a serious shoe-a-holic though, my excitement was pretty much off the charts when I heard that the latest big name to launch a lower priced collection will be none other than famed footwear designer Brian Atwood!

Atwood has teamed up with Jones Apparel Group to create a new footwear and accessories label which will be a lower-priced counterpart to his high-end Brian Atwood shoe business. The new designer label will be called B Brian Atwood and will launch in two phases: B Brian Atwood shoes and boots will hit select department stores and specialty stores in Fall 2011, while B Brian Atwood handbags and B Brian Atwood jewelry are set to launch in 2012.

In the official press release, Brian Atwood to Launch Contemporary Footwear and Accessory Line, 'B Brian Atwood,' With Jones Apparel Group, the 43-year-old luxury shoe designer stated, “When thinking about a partner and building my brand, Jones was an obvious choice. I look forward to translating my design aesthetic and guarantee of high-quality, sexy footwear for a larger audience through a new, contemporary line.” The exclusive licensing agreement with Atwood will no doubt be a huge coup for Jones Apparel Group which is already home to such designer brands as Nine West, Anne Klein, Stuart Weitzman, Robert Rodriguez, Bandolino, and Joan & David.

Since launching his namesake Brian Atwood line of footwear in 2001, the Chicago native has garnered global attention for his stunning shoe designs. With ultra-flattering silhouettes, bold colors, elaborate skins, and playful style names like Drama and Super Charged, it’s no wonder that he’s earned a loyal following among such Hollywood A-listers as Gwenyth Paltrow, Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker and Victoria Beckham. SJP famously sported the super-chic Brian Atwood Loca Studded Pump in Lilac Suede (shown above) in this summer’s SATC movie sequel, while the Brian Atwood Maniac has quickly become a red carpet staple. Most recently, the Maniac has been sported by True Blood actress Anna Paquin at the 2010 Entertainment Weekly and Women In Film Pre-Emmy Party and, of course, at the 2010 Emmy Awards ceremony itself where Mad Men star January Jones paired her eye-popping Royal Blue Atelier Versace Atelier with Black Brian Atwood Maniac Platform Pumps.

Although the new line of B Brian Atwood designer shoes will be considerably less expensive than the pieces in his signature collection, a pair of B Brian Atwood pumps is still going to put a sizeable dent in our pocketbooks. Footwear bearing the B Brian Atwood label will retail for between $200 and $400 for core items and up to $600 for a pair of B Brian Atwood boots – definitely pricier than last year’s limited edition Jimmy Choo for H&M collection where most pairs of Jimmy Choo for H&M heels cost between $99 and $149, and you could even score a pair of flats for $70.

Still, considering the anticipated quality of craftsmanship, not to mention the fact that a pair of Brian Atwood pumps typically starts around $525 and can easily command four figures (check out his sensational, crystal-embellished Balleto Platform Sandals for $2,085!), the prices in the B Brian Atwood line don’t seem too far out of step. While one pair would still be a major splurge for me, it’s an extravagance that, unlike the designer shoes in his premiere collection, doesn’t seem completely out of the question. (I’ve been lusting after a pair of Brian Atwood shoes for a few years now, and this will be the first time that they’re not 100% out of reach!)

And what will be the inspiration for Atwood’s new collection? Citing an interview with WWD, the In Style magazine article Brian Atwood to Launch More Affordable Shoe Collection quotes the former model (no surprise – he’s gorgeous!) turned elite designer: “The cool, East Village girls who have great style are kind of a muse,” he says. “Our brand essence is fun. It is lipstick, boys and killer heels.”

No surprise that Atwood finds inspiration in NYC’s ultra cool East Village. The superstar shoe designer was recently named one of US Weekly’s 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers. The uber-stylish group was honored at a glam red carpet event on September 15. Check out the adorable pic that Atwood tweeted of himself and fellow honoree, MTV reality star Olivia Palermo, at the Big Apple bash!

It’s been a huge month for Brian Atwood. In addition to announcing the launch of B Brian Atwood and making the 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers list, the famed shoe designer participated in the second annual Fashion’s Night Out on September 10, joining industry pals Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie at Bergdorf Goodman. But this was no ordinary celebrity appearance. Brian was promoted as special guest DJ for the event. I’m not sure if it actually happened or not, but I love it nonetheless! Victoria Beckham Handbags NY Fashion Week

On the ever-growing list of celebrity fashion designers, Victoria Beckham has earned a legitimate place among the 7th Avenue elite. In less than five years, the 36-year-old style icon has transitioned from former Spice Girl into a bona fide fashion and business mogul. It seems like just yesterday that I was coveting a pair of the Swarovski crystal emblazoned, crown pocket designer jeans that “Posh” had created in collaboration with California-based Rock and Republic. That was back in 2005, and I was pretty much obsessed with owning a pair of the exclusive “VB Rocks” designer jeans, partially because they promised to give my less-than-bootylicious derriere some much needed lift, but mostly because I lusted after that oh-so-chic VB signature, the crown logo.

Fast forward to 2010 and I was experiencing that same giddy excitement with news that Beckham was launching her own line of designer handbags! The Victoria Beckham Handbag Collection made its debut to a select group of editors, retailers and stylists on Sunday, September 12 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. The unveiling took place during an intimate preview of the Victoria Beckham Spring 2011 Collection, where pieces from the new designer handbag line were used to accessorize each look. Plans for a Fall / Winter 2011 collection of Victoria Beckham handbags are already in the works!

In the article, Victoria Beckham Designs Herself a New Everyday Bag—and a Travel Tote for David!, InStyle.com posted an exclusive look at the Victoria Beckham Spring 2011 designer dresses and designer handbags that are sure to be an immediate hit. Reportedly available in waxed matte croc, lizard and calf, the structured “Victoria Satchel” is one of Beckham’s must-have items from the line. “It’s one of my favorites. This is the bag I’ll use everyday,” she said.

Another Posh favorite is a roomy travel tote that she designed with husband David Beckham in mind. “I had to put a bag in the collection that David would use,” she stated. “It fits loads…He’ll fill it with track suits.”

Victoria has been well known to be a massive fan of Hermès designer handbags, but it sounds like she won’t need to add to her collection of countless Birkin bags and Kelly bags anytime soon. “A Beckham can replace your Birkin,” she was overheard saying to a guest.

Just last month, in its article The Beckham Bag Lady, British Vogue reported that Beckham had enlisted none other than accessories designer extraordinaire Katie Hillier to consult on the new line of designer handbags. Hillier, who was named by Elle Magazine as one of the 50 Most Influential Names in British Fashion on its yearly Power List, received the coveted title of Accessories Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2009. A fashion powerhouse in her own right, she has worked with London-based fashion designer Luella Bartley, hip young UK designer Henry Holland, British fashion royalty Stella McCartney, and most famously, as Creative Consultant for Marc by Marc Jacobs where various styles of her Hillier Hobo Handbag remain best-sellers. Late last year, the 36-year old launched her own

line of designer jewelry, a collection of whimsical “animal doodle” necklaces that appear to have been crafted from, of all things, paperclips! Beginning with her signature 18 Carat Gold paperclip bunny necklace – which was recently worn by Academy Award and Grammy Award-nominated Rapper M.I.A. in a photo spread for Rolling Stone magazine – Hillier to include a diamond-eyed owl, mouse, dog, snail and squirrel.

But fear not, VB fans. Animal shapes (not that they’re not adorable – I want that bunny necklace!) were not the basis for Beckham’s designer handbag collection. Speaking to the UK’s The Daily Mirror (see A VERY Posh bag lady: Victoria Beckham hires top designer to consult on first handbag line), a Beckham spokesperson confirmed that, while Hillier was consulted, the designs themselves are 100% Victoria. “Katie has consulted on the technical aspects of bag construction in line with her experience in the industry,” said the Beckham rep. “This collection is not a collaboration. As with all her ranges, Victoria has sought the best consultants to ensure the highest level of quality at manufacture for her designs.”

Initial news of the designer handbag line came on the heels of some significant changes within the fashion arm of Beckham Brand Limited. In 2009, as the Victoria Beckham Dress Collection entered its fourth season, the famed fashionista gave a complete overhaul to her designer denim and eyewear collections. As reported by Women’s Wear Daily in December (see Victoria Beckham: A Celebrity Designer Driven to Succeed), Beckham’s designer eyewear is now being handled by British company Cutler and Gross. As for her line of designer jeans, she is no longer working with Western Glove Works and the dVb designer label has been phased out, replaced by the even more craveworthy Victoria Beckham Denim Collection. Available at Net-a-porter.com and at such leading retailers as Bergdorf Goodman, Harvey Nichols and Maria Luisa, the high-end designer denim line consists of everything from ankle-zip skinny jeans and lace leggings to a draped leather jacket and a sexy, sheer double layer tank.

Speaking to WWD about the changes, Beckham explained, “After the success of the dress collection, it just seemed like a natural progression to really take control and take the denim and the sunglasses in-house…Everything is now under Victoria Beckham. DVb is no more. Everything is different,” she said, adding that the silhouettes, denim and factories have all changed.

And based on everything we’ve seen so far, I, for one, couldn’t be more thrilled. While I admit that it would be hard for Mrs. David Beckham to do anything wrong in my books, the revamped denim collection, which debuted this past Spring, is sharper and sleeker than its dVb predecessor. With edgy elements like rivets, back zippers and panel detailing, the new and improved (for me anyway!) Victoria Beckham Denim Collection seems to have a lot more variety and fashion-forward appeal.

Not to mention the fact that I’m head-over-heels crazy about what we’ve seen from the 26-piece Spring 2011 Victoria Beckham dress collection that she previewed on September 12. Narrating the show herself, Beckham said, “What’s alluring for me this season are the curves of a women’s figure—sensual volume and a defined silhouette that allows for a freedom of movement.” Elegance, figure-flattery and comfort: what more could a fashionista ask for?! :)

My VB Rocks Designer Jeans

P.S. As you can see from the pics above, I eventually did get a pair of those “VB Rocks” crown pocket, Rock and Republic designer jeans. Although they put a massive dent in my pocketbook at the time, they remain one of my fave denim purchases to this day. It’s been four years since I bought them and they’ve held up incredibly well. (Too bad I can’t say the same for the derriere. LOL!)

The cheap chic, high-street global retail chain H&M has just confirmed that its next high-fashion designer collaboration will be Lanvin, the luxury, super chic and one of the hottest designer labels in Europe. As in the case of other high-fashion labels like Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Sonia Rykiel and Jimmy Choo, in this designer collaboration the Paris-based Lanvin will aim to reach the wider mass-market with much lower priced designer fashion pieces.

Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin said that:

H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.

I recently read in New York Fashion magazine "everyone loves Lanvin while almost no one can afford it." So, so true and what about the key words in the video where Alber Elbaz says it's "not just a dress for less" it's about "H&M going luxury". Oh I can't wait.

About the collaboration and Lanvin designer collection Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M is quoted at saying:

We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises.

The collection, designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver will be seen for the first time on the H&M website on 2 November and will be on the racks in stores in North America on November 20 followed by its worldwide release on November 23; fashionistas, if you haven't before, then this really isn't too long at all to wait to own a little piece or your own collection of this coveted luxurious French designer label!!!

The designer collection will include both a 30 piece collection of womenswear and a 25 piece collection of menswear. In terms of the womenswear collection, I'm hoping that it will be as classy, sophisticated and super chic as Lanvin is well known to be and looks like it will be given that Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M has said that "it is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men." Does the video above from the Lanvin, Fall Winter 2010/2011 Fashion Show for women give us any clues? Am I dreaming? Although I'm personally not into the big coat or jacket look, don't you just love the Fall designer clothes, oh the styles, the fabrics, the colors, and of course the designer shoes and designer handbags aren't they just hot, hot, hot!!! H&M, bring it on....lol. If you're hot for Lanvin and who isn't, then you'll really be looking forward to seeing this much anticipated collection.

Luxury Fashion Sales Are Up

Is the global financial crisis over? Are we now all buying luxury designer handbags like never before? Well the 2010 profit reports of fashion houses like LVMH Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton, the world's largest maker of luxury goods (see Summary 2010 Half Year figures LVMH) and that of French luxury goods giant PPR, the owner of Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Puma (see: Champagne popping again in luxury business) suggest that we are.

Earlier this week LVMH Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton, announced a 53 per cent jump in profits in the six months to the end of June, from €687m in 2009 to €1.05b ($1.36b) in 2010, with its flagship brand Louis Vuitton posting a 28% growth to €1.2b of total operating profit and today PPR reported that its net profit in the six months to the end of June jumped 113.3 per cent to €403m ($444.9m) with the company's Gucci brand sales increasing by 17.7% and now accounting for slightly more than 40% of its sales.

Other high-end fashion houses such as the UK fashion group, Burberry, and France’s Hermès have also reported increased results. For example, last week Hermès reported a 22.8% increase in sales (LVMH results signal luxury revival).

So what does all this mean? Has the demand for designer fashion bounced back strongly this year such that we're now seeing a revival in luxury shopping? Have us fashionistas returned to buying "it" bags? Or is it more that retailers are replenishing their designer clothing and accessories such as designer shoes and designer handbags after the recession (Bloomberg Businessweek, LVMH Profit Beats Estimates on Rising Fashion Sales)? It will be interesting to see how the year-end profits turn out.

The Handbags in Sex and the City 2 (SATC 2)

I went to see SATC 2 last week, and to all of you fashionistas out there, here’s a revelation: True, hard-core handbag fans will find watching Sex and the City 2 pretty painful.

Now I’m not adding my opinion to the bandwagon of press reviews flying around the place and I’m not even saying that you might feel jealousy pangs knowing that the wardrobe for the movie reportedly cost $10 million!!! (Carrie alone has over 40 costume changes and SJP even gets to keep most of her outfits).

I don’t even think it’ll hurt too much to know that in these tough economic times (when most of us are pinchin’ the pennies rather than treating ourselves) that in one single outfit, during the karaoke scene, Carrie’s mix of Vintage Chanel and The Blonds cost a whopping $50,000!

The real reason why real fashion-loving ladies will cringe whilst watching Sex and the City 2 is the live, on-screen death of the holy grail of handbags - the Hermès Birkin.

Keen SATC followers will remember episode 59 of series 4 where Samantha used the name of her client Lucy Liu just to get on the infinitely long waiting list for the, (and I quote - ahem): “It’s not a bag, it’s a f****ing Birkin!”

But, despite this piece of fashion sacrilege, the clothes continue to be the fifth character, just as in the TV series.

The reason why the outfits continue to receive such undivided attention is legendary stylist Patricia Field’s unique vision and green-monster-inducing personal collection. The heap of items that she has picked up over the years and miles appear regularly in the film.

Despite her vast experience of dressing Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, Patricia Field faced a pretty new challenge in SATC2. Usually, any head accessories, like hats, parasols and head scarves are banned from filming because of the shadows and problems that they cause for the lighting and camera crew. But, the SATC sequel was mostly set in Abu Dhabi (despite being filmed in Morocco), where for cultural and religious reasons, it was necessary for the girls to have their head and shoulders covered.

This opened a whole new range of possibilities for the SATC 2 Stylist, who was able to bring in huge wide-brimmed hats, fascinators and vintage Chanel silk scarves and boasts “Lighting and camera just had to deal with it!”

Another theme that runs through the movie is the repeated use of Halston Heritage pieces. The brand is used heavily, especially in the promotional photos. Yeah, we’re sure that the fact that Sarah Jessica Parker is employed as Halston’s chief creative officer is just a coincidence… (?!)

You’ll see a ton of big names in the film from Pucci to Gucci, but, lesser-known accessory designer Kara Ross won’t be able to believe her luck after, not only was one of her statement pieces featured in one of the defining images of the movie, but also, more of her work can be seen lining the shelves in the background.

One of my favorite parts of SATC 2 was the cute pun of Miranda wearing a pair of Tom Ford ‘Miranda’ sunglasses on the camel ride. These sunnies have been seen on a load of celebrities in the past 12 months, but to put them on their name-sake is a cheeky wink to the real fashion know-alls.

So…With all those clutches, totes, vintage luggage pieces, silk scarves and sun hats featured in the movie, I can tell you it’d be near-on impossible to analyze each and every one of ‘em.

But, from the laid-back, utilitarian chic of Carrie’s simple embroidered cotton tote by Shelley Steefee that she carries when taking a walk with Miranda, to Samantha’s VBH clutch that she teams with a stunning black body-con dress in the wedding gift-list scene (pictured above), it’s easy to say that if you want to copy any of the styles featured in the movie, you’ll need a budget as big as a Birkin!

here. And there certainly is a lot of SATC 2 buzz out there. Has any one seen a SATC 2 television commercial....lol. SATC 2 is also buzzing on the Twittersphere: "are you going to the SATC 2 premiere"....."who are you going with"........"OMG what am I going to wear"....."which SATC 2 party are you going to"........."have you got your SATC 2 tickets"...."SATC 2, the countdown is on, only 4 more days to go"........."I can't wait"...."I'm so stoked for SATC 2, how about you?"....."I can't wait to see the fashion"....."too freakin excited for #SATC2 the 27th is gonna be crazy!!!" Yes we're all talking about SATC 2. We're all thinking about our SATC 2 night out, the outfit, the heels, the bag, the dress!!!! And there are SATC 2 parties planned everywhere. With all this buzz and from one early SATC 2 film review, it's now more than a strong bet that SATC 2 will be a big boxoffice smash hit.

In The Hollywood Reporter article, Sex and the City 2 -- Film Review, Stephen Farber writes that SATC 2 "is going to be a smash" and goes on to say that "Costume designer Patricia Field's outlandish creations will send many viewers to hog heaven." This early SATC 2 film review and most of the buzz out there thus far are positive but even if they weren't, as Stephen Farber writes "even if "Sex and the City 2" consisted of nothing but a two-hour fashion show, it would draw crowds." I can't wait to see SATC 2.

It’s almost here -- less than two weeks until May 27 when the Sex and the City movie sequel hits theaters! After all of the spoilers and speculation, we’re finally going to see for ourselves what our favorite fashionistas, the SATC girls, have in store for us, and of course, the latest SATC fashion. I can’t wait to get reacquainted with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker - SJP), Miranda Hobbes-Brady (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) on the big screen! And of course, it’ll also be pretty great to see our dashing SATC men: Mr. Big (Chris Noth), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson), Anthony Marcino (Mario Cantone), Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis) and, as we reported in our April 30, Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel Update, the recently confirmed Aidan Shaw (John Corbett). SATC 2 Stars Get the Cover Model Treatment

In our April 30 Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel Update we shared some of the inside scoop from the SJP cover shoot and feature story in the May issue of Vogue magazine. But the Sarah Jessica Parker features don’t end there. The actress and style icon graces one of four different covers for the June issue of Marie Claire magazine. That’s right: four different covers!! Just like in 2008, the US edition of Marie Claire magazine is offering a special treat to SATC fans by publishing this month’s issue with four equally gorgeous covers – one for each of the SATC movie sequel stars! If you’re a fashion magazine fanatic like me, you might be experiencing a little bit of déjà vu. In the December 2009 issue of Vogue magazine, cover model Cate Blanchett sported both Cattrall’s Valentino gown and Davis’ Oscar de la Renta for an arts-themed photo shoot with famed celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. In it, you’ll see that Blanchett sports the Oscar de la Renta designer dress on slide one, while the Valentino gown is on slide three. From what I can tell, the neckline of the Oscar de la Renta Resort 2010 gown was adjusted from the original as shown online at Oscar de la Renta to create an asymmetric look for Davis. I think I prefer the altered version, but I’m a huge fan of asymmetric styles anyway. Either way, both actresses look exquisite!

As for the six-page article in Marie Claire, writer Yael Kohen conducted a series of exclusive interviews with all four SATC 2 stars, discussing everything from friendships and rumored catfights to filming and, of course, fashion. The issue hit newsstands on May 11. If you haven’t already picked yours up, you can read a portion of the article, Sex and the City Is Back, on the Marie Claire magazine website. In the meantime though, here are a few good tidbits from the article that you won’t find online:

SATC 2 Fashion
According to SATC 2 stylist Patricia Field, for the sequel, a brand-new world will enter the lexicon of SATC style: modesty. Thanks to a seven-week-long shoot in Morocco, expect a lot of breezy, diaphanous fabrics, bright colors that glow against the neutral desert landscape, and hats. “I used a lot of glamorous headwear,” says Field. “I loved it! This was the first time I wasn’t told, ‘No hats, no hats!’

Since there were few New York City street shoots and most scenes were instead filmed in a studio, plot points were well protected. “It wasn’t by design, but it helped,” says Parker. “And we were cagey and tried to confuse people. I think we’ve kept the secrets that matter.” The wedding dress Cattrall famously dashed up Fifth Avenue in last September? A red herring, admits Field. “When we knew paparazzi were there, we put the actresses in disguises, to keep the surprise,” she says. “The white dress was one of them.”

All in all, it’s a great issue and I’d highly recommend picking it up if you can. As an added bonus, the inside front cover contains a cool four-page pull-out with a beautiful photo of each of our SATC 2 stars accompanied by a quotation from the interview. Here’s a rundown of the actresses’ designer fashions and individual quotes:

Sarah Jessica Parker in a delicate Valentino dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, and a vintage necklace and vintage bracelet from Seedhouse: “Playing Carrie taught me to be a better friend.”

The Marie Claire article postulates as to whether those now famous 80s outfits were just meant to throw off the paparazzi in the same way that the Cattrall wedding dress was meant to do. But based on this sneak peek provided by arts, style and culture website, BlackBook (see Anna Sui, Jil Sander, ‘SATC2’ & Williamson Spawn Fashion Reads, it’s a safe bet that the 80s scenes weren’t left on the cutting room floor. After all, even the components of Carrie’s “Like a Virgin” Madonna look are included among the pages of SATC 2 fashion!

Written by Eric Cyphers with introductions by SJP and Michael Patrick King, this “official companion book” will be a must-have for SATC fans and fashionistas everywhere. Oh, and did I mention that it will be available in both a deluxe hardcover ($29.95) and paperback ($19.95)! I’m heading to my nearest bookstore as soon as I make this post!!!

SATC 2 $10 Million Wardrobe Budget?

With 41 costume changes for Carrie Bradshaw alone, and designer clothes from Halston, Chanel, Dior, Pucci, and the late Alexander McQueen among others, it comes as no surprise that the SATC 2 wardrobe budget would be enough to keep any card carrying fashionista in Manolos for a lifetime. But no one has come out with an estimate of the total cost until now. According to In Touch Weekly (see the article The Sex and the City 2 wardrobe cost big bucks!), famed celebrity stylist Philip Bloch estimates the SATC 2 fashion tally at an incredible $10 million. Bloch, who was on the SATC 2 set, reportedly said, “Some of these pieces cost more than an SUV,” adding, “But they get better mileage!”

SJP on Pat Field, Chris Noth and More

No matter what the cost of the SATC 2 fashion, one thing that SATC fans know for certain is that stylist Patricia Field has been key to the success of the SATC television and movie franchise. And no one agrees more than SJP herself. The 45-year-old star told Scotland’s Daily Record (see Star Sarah Jessica Parker explains why wardrobe is such a vital part of Sex and the City 2), “Pat Field is indispensable. We could not tell the story without her – period.” She adds:

Pat has a specific iconic role in the city that is real. She has a historical place in fashion that is now real. She has a sensibility that nobody else has…You can argue with it and not always agree with her aesthetic but it is unique and her own. It suits these women. It especially suits my character. There are hits and misses but she loves it.

SJP also reveals a few details about what fans can expect from the SATC 2 movie, at least at the beginning. According to the online mag, Carrie is still writing and has somewhat surprisingly thrown herself into being a housewife. Says Parker:

I cannot say what's in store, but I can say that in the last two years she has devoted herself to this marriage that we witnessed in the first movie and she's about to publish her fourth book. She is very happy being a housewife as she understands it.

She adds,

They have a new home that she's enjoying decorating and spends time with her friends as much as their schedules and lives allow.

On co-star Chris Noth and his alter-ego John James Preston a.k.a. Mr. Big, she said, “Chris was, and is, so perfect. Men love him, they protect that storyline. Looking for the perfect music for your SATC 2 movie premiere “girls’ night?” The SATC 2 soundtrack will be released on Tuesday, May 25, just two days before the SATC movie sequel hits theaters. The first single, “Love is Your Color,” a ballad by Leona Lewis and Jennifer Hudson, was released to the Internet earlier this month, but it’s the track by our four leading ladies that I’ll be most anxious to hear. That’s right – Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis will appear on the SATC 2 soundtrack, belting out the Helen Reddy female empowerment anthem, “I Am Woman.” That should be a blast!

Also featured on the SATC 2 soundtrack: songs by Dido, Cee-Lo, Erykah Badu, and a cover of “Rapture,” the 1980s Blondie hit, by Alicia Keyes. But according to Marc Malkin at E! Online (see Sex and the City Soundtrack Scoop!, this is not just any ordinary cover.

It's a mash-up with the iconic Sex and the City theme song that's played during the movie's opening theme. I've heard a snippet and lemme tell ya, it works. ‘Rapture’ and the SATC theme go together like a frosty cosmo and a pair of Manolo Blahniks. It just feels and sounds so right.

Greetings SATC fans! Can you believe that it’s just one month until May 27 when the Sex and the City movie sequel hits theaters worldwide? In fact, tickets have already gone on sale at Regal Cinemas across the country! And should anyone doubt that SATC 2 is going to be a huge hit, industry sources are saying that tickets for the SATC movie sequel are already outselling other movies that are just days away from release.

The article 'Sex and the City 2' tickets already a hot item, in The Hollywood Reporter quotes Fandango spokesperson Harry Medved saying: “It was nearly 20% of our daily sales when it first went on sale, outpacing (new box office champ) ‘Kick-Ass,’ which was 17% of sales.” Talk about impressive! It’s clear that audiences can’t get enough of our fabulous foursome -- Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker, SJP), Miranda Hobbes-Brady (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis). Have you gotten your tickets yet? I’m thinking that I should do it now before opening night sells out.

New SATC 2 Movie Poster and Extended SATC 2 Movie Trailer Hit the Web

Until then though, Warner Brothers Entertainment and New Line Cinema are doing their best to help ease the wait. They’ve released an all-new SATC movie sequel poster and an extended SATC 2 movie trailer which will definitely ramp up excitement for what is sure to be another blockbuster.

In the new SATC movie sequel poster, shown above and at AccessHollywood.com, Sarah Jessica Parker sashays across the desert dunes in a flowing exotic print dress and sky-high strappy sandals. And in a cool graphic treatment, our SATC heroine is holding a pair of Chanel Dance Mask sunglasses which offer a reflection of the New York City skyline. What a stylish way to incorporate the two SATC movie sequel locations into one image! Although I liked the original poster of SJP in the now-famous White Halston Heritage V-neck dress, Gold Christian Louboutin heels and Gold Mykita & Bernhard Wilhelm sunglasses (see “Sex and the City Move 2: The Fashion” in our January update, this new SATC 2 poster is definitely my favorite. SJP looks positively radiant, and there’s just something so ethereal about the whole image. Maybe it’s the glistening sand of the desert background or perhaps it’s the delicate, airy feel of the chic fashion. Whatever it is, I love it!

Even more exciting than the new SATC 2 movie poster, however, is the release of an all-new extended SATC movie sequel trailer! In addition to a bit more focus on Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, it gives us our first peek of the much hyped cameos by Penelope Cruz, Miley Cyrus and Liza Minnelli along with confirmation that last Fall’s location shoot in Morocco was indeed meant to substitute for Abu Dhabi. As we reported in our August update (see Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: No ‘Sex’ for Dubai:), plans to film part of the SATC movie sequel in Dubai were scrapped when negotiations with United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities fell through. However, we now know for sure that, despite filming in Morocco, plans to depict part of the film in Abu Dhabi remained in tact. As Samantha puts it, “One week in Abu Dhabi, all expenses paid, for all four of us.” And it’s clear from the trailer that a lot is going to happen during that one week!

Sex and the City Movie Sequel (SATC 2) Aidan is Back!

But the biggest buzz coming out of the extended SATC movie sequel trailer is the return of John Corbett as Aidan Shaw. Although the 48 year-old actor had denied any involvement in the SATC movie sequel during an interview with Access Hollywood back in January (see John Corbett Shoots Down ‘Sex And The City 2’ Rumors, Says He Wasn’t In Morocco), Corbett has since admitted that Carrie Bradshaw’s ex will indeed be back on the big screen when SATC 2 hits theaters in May. Ellen Degeneres was the first to get the inside scoop on Aidan’s return when Corbett appeared on her talk show, Ellen, in late March. Recapping the interview, AccessHollywood.com (see: John Corbett Admits Aiden Shaw Is In ‘Sex And The City 2’) quoted Corbett:

These rumors started about seven months ago because somebody took a picture of me in Morocco and I felt really bad because for the last six months every time somebody said, ‘Are you in this movie?’ I had to lie about it,” he said. “I just found out I'm going to be in the trailer, so I get to break the news on your show that Aidan gets to come back to Sex and the City.

As for whether Aidan and Carrie might rekindle their romance, Corbett hints that it’s a possibility. According to USweekly.com (John Corbett on SATC 2: Carrie Could Have Affair With Aidan), the actor fueled speculation during an April 19 radio interview for On Air with Ryan Seacrest. Speaking about the state of Carrie’s relationship with Big, he says, “It doesn't seem like things are going that well in that marriage.” And when asked by Seacrest whether Carrie and Aidan could hypothetically hook up again, Corbett replied, “Oh yeah! Of course! There's always that vibe.” Wow. The return of Aidan brings so many possibilities. I’m counting the days until May 27 when the SATC movie sequel opens and we can see where this love triangle goes!

If you haven’t already rushed to the newsstand to pick up the May issue of Vogue, rest assured that it doesn’t disappoint. The special “Great American Women” issue features Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover, looking stunning in an Azure Calvin Klein Collection silk front-pleat dress ($1,995), Fred Leighton 19th century Diamond pendant earrings ($225,000) and a Fred Leighton Art Deco Diamond and Onyx bracelet ($750,000 for a pair).

In preparation for the 10-page profile piece on SJP, Vogue contributing editor Vicki Woods conducted numerous interviews with Parker over the past year. Appropriately titled, “Parker Power,” the article describes SJP’s status as a “phenomenally influential force (and driver of merchandise) in terms of culture, fashion, style, and beauty for vast numbers of women in their 20s and up” while giving readers insight into the down-to-earth wife, mother and, as SATC writer-director Michael Patrick King puts it, ‘star next door,’ who so many of us have come to admire.

Discussing the aging of the SATC women including her alter-ego, Carrie Bradshaw, Parker said,

“We’re still playing—uh, I don’t know how old Carrie is! Is she about 42 now? I think Carrie’s younger than I (Parker is 45), and Miranda and Charlotte are younger than they are in real life. Samantha was always the older lady, so she’s 52 now and talks a lot about what comes with that. In the movie. Talks about menopause. Comedically.”

And as for the ongoing tabloid-fueled rumors of tension on the set? SJP attempts to put them to rest yet again.

“We four women, despite I guess what a lot of people hope, have never been better. This movie—and maybe it’s because we actually lived together—it was the best! We were together all day long, at night, in the restaurants, in our hotels. It was wonderful.”

The perfect complement to the article, Vogue.com (Sarah Jessica Parker ) has posted a fabulous three-minute video which offers a behind-the-scenes look at Sarah Jessica’s May cover shoot with famed fashion photographer Mario Testino. The two-day shoot took place at The Beacon in Jersey City, described by the NYPost.com (Sarah Jessica Parker's wintry bikini?) as a “historically restored luxury residential development known, according to its promoters, for ‘soaring loft spaces, art-deco grandeur and million-dollar views of the Manhattan skyline.’”

Take a peek at the video diary and check out the exquisite still image of SJP (at the 0:42 second mark) wearing a Dior Haute Couture Blush-and-Claret silk strapless dress which was flown from Paris to NYC specifically for the shoot. It is simply breathtaking! But of course there’s more. Among the behind-the-scenes footage, we see shots of the style icon in a Lanvin Dusty-Rose cotton-and-silk strapless dress with a Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace; a Giambattista Valli silk-velvet jacquard bolero with grosgrain-ribbon trim and matching sleeveless dress; Chanel Lipstick-Red silk-faille dress with embellishment and bracelet paired with Fred Leighton earrings; and Vera Wang Butterscotch silk duchesse-satin dress with matching bolero.

Discussing her new role as president and chief creative officer of Halston Heritage, Parker told Woods that she did not make the decision lightly. Woods writes,

“They were very persuasive, she (Parker) says, although she gave them every possible excuse to walk away. She told them they were taking ‘a very untraditional route’ and that they'd be bludgeoned for it.”

But ultimately, she was persuaded. Says Parker,

“There was every reason to say no, and there were very compelling reasons to say yes…. It’s an exciting time at that company. It has had some false starts that are well documented and it is relaunching itself. It has a wonderful legacy, and I couldn’t say no.”
