Sex and the City, Designer Handbags

Designer handbags are as vital as breathing for the girls of Sex and the City. Remember the movie? Designer handbags are rented in the same manner as apartments and cars! So exactly what’s so special about a pouch simply designed to hold our keys, wallets and cell phones?

 

For starters, the bags of these high-fashion women cost more than can even fit inside their little pouch. After some research of both the HBO Sex and the City series and the movie, we were finally able to pinpoint only one purse that cost less than $1500!! The show decides to parade Carrie around in expensive Manolo Blahnik shoes and Timmy Woods bags only to have her return to a mildly dingy apartment. Sounds weird, right? Not really.

While this may seem like an extravagant lifestyle only seen on the silver screen, reality does collide with the show. In fact, it was Samantha’s desire for a Hermes Birkin bag that made fans realize that their favorite characters struggle to secure high end designer labels just like everyone else. Sex and the City exposed the $5000 bill and 2 year wait to obtain one of these coveted designer handbags – and even using Lucy Liu as a pseudo-name couldn’t snag the bag for Samantha. Women around the world could relate to having the perfect handbag out of reach but within sight.

Sex and the City has us all drooling over the designer labels; Hermes Birkin, Chanel, Fendi, Nancy Gonzalez, Louis Vuitton, and more grace the screen leaving us in both awe of their beauty and anger of their nearly unattainable status. But we must give credit where credit is due. For as much as the fashionistas of SATC relish their expensive toys, they are occasionally spotted at vintage stores that house no labels. Carrie even wore a “no-label” wedding dress on her big day – although she did balance it with the Dior Gladiators she uses to walk down the aisle.

Basically, a handbag is how a woman is presented. It provides the cover for whatever dirty secrets hide inside; the number of a guy you’re not supposed to be seeing, the makeup you pretended you don’t wear because you’re already flawless, and whatever else you wish to hide. Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha have it right. Make sure your handbag represents your style and how you want to be seen – even if you have to break the bank to get there….lol.

With 2009 now fast coming to an end, we’re getting closer to the Sex and the City movie sequel, May 28, 2010. I can’t wait to see what’s install for us when it comes to the fashion, especially the handbags!

This gorgeous Prada designer handbag measures 15"H x 16 1/2"W x 7 4/5"D, and was originally priced at $1350.  It is now on sale at Bergies for $905. I want it!

Also from Prada, the eye-popping Naplak Bowler puts a playful punch on a classic design. Available in the brilliant Yellow shown below or an equally fabulous Fuschia, this designer handbag is guaranteed to liven up any look. Made of patent calf leather, it features double top handles, an inside zip pocket and a luggage tag accent. The Yellow version of this designer handbag features a Silver tone zip top, while the Fuschia version has a Gold tone. Crafted in Italy, it measures 11 1/4"H x 17"W x 6"D. My next pick from the range of designer handbags on sale is the Carla Mancini, Spring Postman Clutch in Fuchsia Patent. It’s another perfect bag for a night out on the town. This moderately square shaped designer handbag has a large triangle fold over piece that secures with a twist toggle. For easy access to lip gloss and your cell phone, an additional zipper pocket was added to the outside for convenience. There is absolutely no way you will be able to resist this hot clutch. It measures 14”x 3”x 9” and again it’s super chic and looks stunning. I know I’ve picked fuchsia again but heck would you want it in orange?

Originally priced at $392.00, with the 50% sale discount, the Carla Mancini, Postman Clutch is yours for just $196.00!!

I also love the Carla Mancini Foldover Bag with Rivets. Like all other Carla Mancini handbags, the Foldover Bag with Rivets is made of the finest Italian leather. Like the others, it’s super chic and certainly makes a bold statement in either Lime or Fuchsia but , dare I say, I’ll have it in Fuchsia thanks.

The over sized fold has a double strung of multi-colored metallic rivets which also adorn the adjustable leather strap. I know Purple is the in color so here’s another Carla Mancini I could easily go for, and this time in Purple. Just the right size for carrying all your belongings, the Python Tote with Front Tassel will have you slithering with desire. Each seam completes with a weaved leather piece and the front has a detailed tassel for an added touch.

O.J. denied that he ever owned them and called the Brunos "ugly ass shoes" however, photos were later shown to the jury of Simpson at a September 1993 football game, wearing shoes positively identified by Bodziak as size 12, Lorenzo-style Bruno Maglis. The actual shoes used during the crime have not been recovered and because of the increased brand recognition, the O.J. Simpson trial led to increased sales of Bruno Magli shoes.

The Paris based leather goods designer Brontibay currently has a sale on its range of colorful and fashion forward French designer handbags. There are some great basics here in tantalising colors to tickle your fancy and at great sale prices. And to boot they're super chic and stylish!!! Here are some of my faves.

First I like the Gemme handbag. This is a small handbag with a long adjustable strap, in Blue (bleu), Silver (taupe) and Black (noir) metallic leather. It measures 9 inches (23cm) high by 11 inches (28cm) wide. Originally priced at 175 Euros the Gemme designer handbag is now discounted by 40% down to 105 Euros ($136.50).

For a matching evening bag the Ambre designer clutch handbag, a large evening pouch in Blue, Silver or Black metallic leather is just perfect. It can be worn day or night and is quite large and volumous measuring 5.5 inches (14cm) high and 12 inches (30cm) wide. This bag could easily be used as your makeup bag. My first pick is the Botkier Ziggy Hobo available in Black or Smoke Lamb leather and Goldtone hardware. I prefer it in Black as shown in the picture below. This designer handbag is gorgeous! It has a top handle, zip top and flap closure as well as a convenient zip pocket on the front. It also features a logo jacquard lining. The bag measures 14 1/4"H x 5 1/4"W x 9 1/2"D and is on sale now at $438 discounted down from its original price of $625.

The other Botkier that I like is the Botkier Kika Satchel. Like the Botkier Ziggy Hobo, the Kika Satchel is available in Black or Gray Lamb leather and Goldtone hardware. Once again I prefer it in Black as shown in the image below. As you can see, this designer handbag has top handles, zip top and a hanging logo charm on one side and a bow detail on the other. The bag measures 13 1/2"H x 5"W x 8 1/2"D and is on sale now at $382 discounted down from its original price of $545.

When browsing through the handbags you'll see a large top handle Gucci bag in black dialux fabric with gunmetal leather trim and tassel with metal plate details that's really hot but so is the sale price of $2,606 discounted down from its original price of $3,890. So from Gucci I've picked the Hysteria Clutch in dark grape patent leather with Goldtone metal Gucci crest detail as shown in the image below.

Made in Italy, this gorgeous Gucci handbag has a zip-top closure, side ties and an inside pocket. It measures 5 1/2"H x 10"W x 2 1/2"D and on sale at $466, discounted down from its original price of $695.

The Dolce & Gabbana Easy Way Bowler in Rossa (red) with Silver-tone hardware as shown in the image below is another designer handbag to die for. This handbag has top handles with rings, a detachable shoulder strap and double-zip top with buckle detail. The ribbed quilting, front logo plate and zip pocket add to its style. Made in Italy, this bag is on sale at $1337, discounted down from its original $1995 price tag.

Another pick from the D&G Dolce & Gabbana designer collection, is the Amber Satchel in Mud brown calf leather and Goldtone hardware.  As shown in the image below, this handbag is one hot looking bag. It's super stylish. Made in Italy, this designer handbag features a top handle and Kiss-lock closure, contrast topstitching and logo embroidery. WHAT do top fashion designers Stella McCartney, Erin Featherston, Alice Temperley and relative new comer Jonathan Saunders all have in common?

Well apart from having gorgeous clothes (as all self-respecting fashionistas will know), they are now also united by having produced a range of designer clothing for Target. Up and coming style guru Jonathan Saunders recently joined the ranks after months of speculation, by designing an exclusive limited-edition collection for Target GO International, making the hottest chic designer fashion available to women at affordable prices.

With fab fashions more accessible and affordable than ever before clothes seem to have an increasingly shorter expiry date. A recent report by The Council of Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia (TCTFIA) found Australian women aged under 30 bought, on average, 112 garments a year - double that of women aged over 30. Many of these purchases then rapidly become excess to requirements (really, how many items can one wear in a year?), with many of those garments relegated to the dark recesses of the wardrobe or given to local charity shops after only a week’s wear!

By comparison the guys were revealed as somewhat more conservative, buying an average of only 29 items of clothing a year.

Is this ‘buy and bin quick’ trend further emerging evidence of consumerism gone mad – fast food, fast fashions - or just an indication of passion for ever changing variety and style in the fashion stakes?

Way back in 2005 fashion designer Stella McCartney created waves when she signed up for a one-time run with UK retailer H&M; this designer also did a range for Target (Australia), launched March 2007.

The trend for affordable access to once elite fashion labels has escalated beyond all expectations since, with a plethora of fashion designers creating budget lines of their gorgeous clothes.

The TCTFIA report suggests that young people have become victims of the fast fashion phenomenon, with cheap clothing dropped into stores more frequently - often weekly.

Within this scenario it seems obvious that budget range designer clothing is likely to be treasured and is at the top end of ‘fashion chain’, but the sheer volume and accessibility of clothing across the board means it’s life time is shorter than ever before.

There are now also emergent concerns about the environmental impact of disposable fashion and where the clothing ends up once its use-by date is up or it is replaced by the next fleeting trend. Raw resources are used at an increasing rate, and once disregarded the huge quantities of clothing must be disposed of.

It seems that the market is ever greedy for more – more affordable fashions, more often, and more quantity and variety. As all good marketers know, marketing is about finding a gap in the market and then filling it.

Richard Chai will soon become the next limited-edition fashion designer to create the a range of chic women's fashion for Target GO International. Chai's exclusive collection including an assortment of tailored separates and chic dresses will be available at most Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com/go in early August, with prices ranging $12.99 to $79.99.

Designer Shoes, Handbags and Jewelry at Affordable Prices!

But it’s not just about chic clothes – it is about an entire look. Fabulous fashionistas require – no demand – accessories to set their outfits off to perfection – and a number of designers have launched into the market to fill this need.

Much vaunted designer Monica Botkier will offer up a line of purses, clutches, and wristlets starting on July 20. Called Botkier for Target, the accessories will be in stores until September 14, 2008. Price points range from $19.99 to $49.99.

New York City based jewelry designer Dean Harris will shortly be offering a limited edition jewelry line. The Dean Harris for Target designer jewelry collection, most of which are nature-related, will be available at most Target stores nationwide and at Target.com from August 17 through December 27, 2008 at prices from $19.99 to $99.99.

Fashion accessories designer giants Anya Hindmarch and Sigerson Morrison are also creating limited edition collections for Target. Anya Hindmarch will be designing a line exclusive, stylish yet affordable designer handbags while Sigerson Morrison will be creating a line of affordable designer shoes which will be up for grabs in early October at Target stores nationwide, with select styles sold exclusively through Target.com. Anya Hindmarch designer handbags are liked by celebrities including Scarlette Johansson, Madonna, Claudia Schiffer, Angelina Jolie for their excellent craftsmanship while Sigerson Morrison's designer shoes are a favorite of celebrities such as Naomi Watts.

Made in Spain and on sale at $279.90 or $435 after the sale this high-heeled boot gives a super chic and sexy look. The Stuart Weitzman 'Ciento' lace-up oxford pump in moro (bronze) antique viper snake-print leather and with cut-out sides (HN222797) and the peep-toe pump in taupe multi (HN222801) but also available in black soft patent or fire quasar (HN222799) snake-print leather are also definite possibilities.

At an Anniversary sale price of $69.90 (after sale $109.95), I think the BCBGirls peep-toe slingback in cherrywood snake leather (HN228897) is great value and will also give a sophisticated and chic look. It's on sale at $298.90 or available after the sale at $475. The handbag's center zip opens for extra space. It's a super chic handbag and the color, Berry is simply gorgeous.

Designer handbags and clutches by Prada, Lanvin, Derek Lam and Marc Jacobs. Others I like are from Fendi, Givenchy and Jil Sander. I just love the Prada Dressy New Look Knot Shoulder Bag in Talco. This gorgeous Prada designer handbag is made from smooth leather with gathered top and large knot detail. It has a magnetic snap close, and as you can see in the picture below, gold-toned hardware.

This Prada designer handbag is made in Italy, of course, and has a leather handle and removable shoulder strap. Also cute are its open side pockets. It has a logo fabric lined interior with side zip pocket and measures 10" x 6" x 4.5" with a 5" handle drop. I can't wait to see how the now 40-something Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), successful author and everyone's favorite fashion icon-next-door, and her three gal pals, Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York Goldenblatt (played by Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon), have matured in their attitude to sex, love and relationships and just as importantly, in how they have matured in the fashions that they love and wear.

Sex and the City, The Movie!

I know from Sex and the City, It's a Fashion Show! that "the fashion is really different. Everything is more expensive, more beautiful, the shoes, the jewelry..." and that the "fashion comes from Paris, it Comes from Italy, it comes from New York, it comes from everywhere" and that we can expect some maturity as Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP) herself has said that "taste has changed, palette has changed and that's what happens when you grow up."

However, with all the buzz and after watching the 30-somethings in re-runs of the HBO Sex and the City series for days now, I being a mega SATC fan, can't wait to see the feature-length movie. Yes I want to sit there for 2 hours and 15 minutes and watch the ultra chic and the fabulous and sophisticated Sex and the City style! I want to see the girls strut their stuff again :)

Sex and the City, the Designer Clothing, Designer Shoes, Designer Handbags and Designer Jewelry!

Yes there will be lots of love and sex, and Mr BIG of course, but I want to see the girls in the latest designer clothing and designer shoes as well as the hottest designer handbags and wearing the to-die-for designer jewelry. SATC the movie will no doubt be like going to fabulous designer clothing, designer shoes, designer handbags and designer jewelry fashion shows all lumped into one, 2 hour and 15 minute fashion show. I can't wait.

Now I know that Fred Leighton and Nancy Gonzalez, both played a major role in accessorizing the leading ladies for the film.

Both Samantha and Miranda are seen carrying Nancy Gonzalez designer handbags and crazy as it might seem, Samantha’s little pooch is also accessorized in matching Nancy Gonzalez accessories. This lucky dog is seen wearing a Nancy Gonzalez one of a kind gold croc collar and leash designed to match Samantha’s Nancy Gonzalez gold tote designer handbag (see detail picture below left) and apparently made especially by the designer for the movie. I'm not at all sure about coordinating your outfit with your dog but wouldn't you just love to get your hands on that little pooch ;)

Well will this movie incarnation of the HBO Sex and the City series be the Ultimate chick flick? Not long now to tell but it sure is looking like it will be. I just can't wait to see this chick-flick. Can't wait to see the designer clothes (Vera Wang, Vivienne Westwood, Christian Dior and Oscar De La Renta), the designer handbags (Birkin, Chanel. and Louis Vuittons), the designer shoes and all the bling, the designer jewelry :)

Sex and the City, It's a Fashion Show!

The world premiere of the much anticipated movie, Sex And The City (SATC) takes place in London tonight. Personally I think that New York should have had the first screening, I mean that's where the HBO series was set and shot, that's where the 30-somethings Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha strutted their stuff!

Regardless, as much as Sex and the City is about columnist Carrie Bradshaw, her three gal pals, and their lustful urban quest for good sex, love and fab clothes, being set in New York City, fashion has always been a major part of the story. But now some four years on what can we expect when it comes to the fashion?

Also, will it simply continue on from where the series left off or will the now 40-somethings have matured and matured in the fashions that they wear. Will we see more of the breaking of the rules, the unexpected and outrageous, or will we see a more mature collection of fashion. The following video by BlackTree Media might shed some light on these questions.

 

Well there are some clues there. It is said that "the fashion is really different. Everything is more expensive, more beautiful, the shoes, the jewelry..." and when talking about the show's stylist and costume designer Patricia Field, Sarah Jessica Parker says that "she's really good at telling the story with clothes and she really knows these women in the city." And yes we can expect some maturity as Sarah Jessica Parker later says that "taste has changed, palette has changed and that's what happens when you grow up."

Pat Field herself says that the "fashion comes from Paris, it Comes from Italy, it Comes from New York, it comes from everywhere" and when talking about the costumes Kristin Davis (Charlotte) says that "there were just tables of bags, like every new bag that you haven't even seen in the stores yet and then there were tables of shoes, and I mean it was just like Mecca."

So from this we can expect some new ideas but I'm sure that we'll see the latest in designer clothing, shoes and designer handbags. Yes there will be lots of love and sex, but just as importantly, the feature-length Sex And The City movie will be like going to a fabulous fashion show. I can't wait.

The Money's in the Prada Handbag!

Well did you manage to purchase any of the unique Prada prototypes at the Prada Spring/Summer Women's 2008 Fashion Auction which ended on Tuesday? The Prada handbags, skirts, pants and boots were certainly one-of-a-kinds in terms of design, style and colors. Here's a brief roundup on this auction.

Prada Designer Pants

The first items on the bidding block were three pairs of couture pants. The low-rise bell-bottom Cyclamen Pants, as shown in the pictures directly below, are made off silk fabric as used extensively in haute couture collections of the fifties. These very unique pants, in cyclamen

color and shell print are printed with a 20-color flat screen process and appeared with different print in the last Prada fashion show for the Spring/Summer 2008 women's collection. The one-of-a-kind Prada designer pants were purchased during the auction for 2000 Euros. There can be no doubt that these Prada pants in hot cyclamen color are super chic but I just can't get my head around the large bell-bottoms.

Next in the bidding we saw the low-rise bell-bottom Sunny Yellow Pants as shown in the picture on the left. These pants are made of silk gazar, generated by a 20-color flat screen printing process which ensures a richer, more accurate result compared to the normal 10-color printing technique. Screens with the designs are used to apply the inks on the cloth. A specific screen is used to print each separate portion of color and given that this involved a 20-color flat screen printing process, you can easily see that the end result is spectacular.

Although very similar in style to the Prada Cyclamen Couture Pants, due to the motif print and its sunny yellow color, the Sunny Yellow Pants are certainly unique and given that it attracted a highest bid of 2100 Euros, one can imagine that they will be worn proudly. Once again however, because of the large bell-bottom they are not my style and I'm not so hot on the yellow color, well not in pants anyway!

The third item in the first group of prototypes auctioned was the Orange Pants shown in the picture here on the right. Once again, like the two prior items, this prototype is a unique low-rise bell-bottom pants created exclusively for this auction.

The silk gazar fabric is printed through the same 20-color process that guarantees a more accurate result compared to the normal 10-color printing technique. This fashion piece is absolutely unique due to its combination of color and print, as for the cyclamen and sunny yellow ones. The highest bid for these was 2000 Euros. Again because of the bell-bottom design, this one-of-a-kind fashion piece, is not my style.

Prada Handbag and Designer Boots

A Plum Buckskin Prada handbag and two pairs of Prada designer boots made up the second group of items which were auctioned off in the week ending April 29, 2008. Shown in the pictures below, I described each of these items in my Exclusive Prada Designer Auction post of Thursday April 24, 2008.

The Plum Buckskin Prada Handbag went for 4000 Euros, the Plum Buckskin Boot for 1450 Euros (pictured in the center directly above), and the Antique Rose Buckskin Boot (pictured above on the far right) went for 1300 Euros. I have to say that out of all items, the Plum Buckskin Prada Handbag was my favorite piece in the auction but more on this later.

Prada Designer Skirts

You've got the pants, the boots and the Prada handbag so now what about a unique Prada skirt or two to match? Well that's what the final part of the Prada Spring/Summer Women's 2008 Fashion Auction was all about, skirts!

The first of these is the Ankle-length, Sunny Yellow Skirt shown here on the left. This skirt is made of silk gazar printed with a shell design as used in the last Prada Spring/Summer 2008 Women's Fashion Show. Gazar is a heavyweight organza that was used extensively in haute couture collections of the fifties. This skirt was purchased at auction for 1500 Euros. Now I didn't like the low-rise bell-bottom Sunny Yellow Pants described above but I do like this skirt, and even in yellow!

The second skirt is the shell design, Cyclamen Silk Gazar Skirt shown immediately below on the left. This skirt is also inspired to the 2008 Prada Spring/Summer Women's Collection. The luxurious print portrays a world full of carnivorous flowers, dragons, hybrid creatures, and mysterious fairies. As the previous, this prototype is absolutely unique as it is the only version in this color in existence. The Cyclamen Silk Gazar Skirt was purchased at auction for 1300 Euros.

 

The third skirt in the group is the Orange Silk Gazar Skirt shown in the picture directly above on the right. This gorgeous skirt is decorated with a shell print and carnivorous flowers, dragons, hybrid creatures, and mysterious fairies. A similar model was shown for the first time during the Spring/Summer 2008 fashion shown in Milan but this piece is unique thanks to its orange color. As in the case of the Cyclamen Silk Gazar Skirt, this unique, one-of-a-kind item was purchased for 1300 Euros.

The final piece in this group is the Orange Knee-Length Patchwork Skirt shown in the pictures directly above. This is another piece in the collection made of printed silk gazar, a heavy-weight organza used extensively in haute couture collections that was quite popular in the fifties. This prototype in orange is decorated with cut-out elements that are hand-sewn on the skirt. This unique, one-of-a-kind item was purchased for 1700 Euros.

Final Words - The Money's in the Prada Handbag

Amazingly one seriously keen Prada lover snatched eight out of the ten items auctioned. Someone who goes by the screen name of Transito paid 4000 Euros for the Plum Buckskin Prada Handbag, 1300 Euros for the Antique Rose Buckskin Boot and 1450 Euros for the Plum Buckskin Boot. Add to these Transito also purchased the Cyclamen Silk Gazar Skirt (Euros 1300), the Orange Silk Gazar Skirt (Euros 1300), the Orange Knee-Length Patchwork Skirt (1700 Euros), the Sunny Yellow Pants (2100 Euros) and the Orange Pants (2000 Euros). Now that's a total of 15,150 Euros or $23,380 USD so fashionista Transito is one hell of a Prada lover. Will these prototype Prada fashions end up as part of a rare collection or will we see them back on some other auction site at some later date? I'd love to know. Transito, you take care of that Prada Handbag. It's really chic!!!

Exclusive Prada Designer Auction

You may remember back in July 2007, the elite Italian fashion house Prada began auctioning a number of its designer prototypes originally created for the catwalk of the Fall/Winter 2007 season. This Exclusive Prada Auction started with the auction of 3 items, a unique Prada designer dress with a faded green embossed bodice and voluminous wool silk radzmire skirt, a Prada designer coat made from quartz colored mohair treated with a fur effect and a pair of gorgeous and really chic Prada designer shoes, yellow and black patent high-heeled 'Maryjanes', truly one-of-a-kind items.

Well Prada recently started its Spring/Summer 08 auction with exciting designer prototypes from the spring 2008 collection. The first items on the bidding block were three pairs of couture pants but currently up for grabs is a Plum Buckskin Bag, an Antique Rose Boot and a Plum Buckskin Boot. So if you're a Prada girl then here's your chance to bag something truly exclusive!!! However, be warned this is a hot, hot auction! I tried several times last year to snag some of the stunning items being auctioned but each time I bid, there was someone else out there even keener that out bid me :(

Prada Designer Plum Buckskin Handbag

This super fabulous designer handbag, measuring 36cm by 26cm, is made of Plum colored buckskin that underwent a stunning ink jet printing process and was subsequently polished to create an extremely glossy surface. As well as a Gold Prada insignia, the bag features Gold plated hardware and a zipper closing. It's lined with nappa leather and has a zippered pocket and small buttoned pocket inside.

As you can see the Plumb Bucksin designer handbag is decorated in an imaginative and colorful print. A similar design is distributed in the Spring/Summer 2008 collection, but this Prada designer handbag is absolutely unique because it is the only version in existence in this color. At the time of writing Hollywood has the hots for this designer handbag having placed the highest bid of 3100 Euros and with some 4.5 days to go before the close of bidding on this item, one can easily see that this exclusive designer handbag will fetch a boatload. It's a real stunner!

Prada Designer Antique Rose Boot

Oh yes the Devil wears Prada! Well the pictures here say it all, don't they? The Prada Designer Antique Rose Boot is certainly a unique piece of Prada history. This exclusive designer prototype is made from antique rose colored buckskin that underwent an inject printing process and was subsequently treated to create its extremely glossy surface. Apparently the heel is hand painted and coated with transparent enamel.

You can easily see that the Antique Rose Boot is as decorative as and printed in a style very similar to the Plum Buckskin designer handbag. You'll definitely stand out in the crowd in these one-of-a-kind boots :) However if the 37 size fits you, would you wear them? At the time of writing the highest bid for the Antique Rose Boot is 1200 Euros, and with 4.5 days to go it will be interesting to see what this unique boot fetches.

Prada Designer Plum Buckskin Boot

Similar in style to the Antique Rose Boot but in a totally different print and color, the Plum Buckskin designer boot is another unique piece, exclusively produced for the auction. The boot is made of plum colored buckskin and printed with inkjet technology before being rubbed down to obtain to create its extremely glossy surface.

The ABS heel is hand painted and protected with a transparent topcoat enamel. The highest bid thus far is 1250 Euros so at the time of writing this post, of the first three items in this auction, the Plumb buckskin designer handbag is certainly way out in front in terms of the highest bid so far.

The auction for each designer item has a maximum duration of 7 days from the moment of the online placement of the auction for that item and when you visit the Prada site, you will see that the time remaining until the termination of the auction is constantly indicated by a counting down clock. The highest bidder for a given item will be the successful bidder/purchaser of that item. At any time you can track the bid history of each product through a graphic chart. The auction ends on April 29, 2008 and proceeds from the sales will benefit the San Raffaele Foundation, one of the most important Italian institutions concerned with medical research, clinical work and training.

There can be little doubt that these very unique Prada designer items are exclusive collectibles and it will be interesting to see what prices these once-in-a-lifetime designer pieces finally fetch. It will also be interesting to see what other Prada designer items will be auctioned after these items are finally sold although I have heard that we can expect some really chic Prada skirts. It's gorgeous in Bordeaux and is on sale at AUD $225 down from its original price of $325.
