Josh Goot for Target Designer Collection Countdown

Josh Goot | Trench Coat | Target | Designer | Fashion | Clothing | Womens | Teen | Girls

The Josh Goot for Target collection, priced between $59.99 and $129.99, will be available in selected Target stores, beginning tomorrow, June 19. However, before you race off to the sale, I strongly recommend that you do your homework. Check out what's in the collection. Work out what look you are after and what you think will suit your style and budget.

With this in mind I decided to have closer look at the collection and thought that this summary might be useful before attending this Target womens designer clothing sale.

Josh Goot for Target Designer Collection - A Closer Look

While there are many pictures of the collection on the official Josh Goot for Target Designer Collection website and now also on many other sites on the Net, it can all be a little confusing as there are only twelve styles in the collection, including tank tops, a cardigan, a tube skirt and leggings, as well as dresses and the now identified by many as being the must-have trench coat.

Thus, while some pieces are available in different colors, it's a relatively small, 12-piece collection - a lot smaller than the 42-piece collection that Stella McCartney did for Target on March 12. Here's a brief outline of what makes up the Josh Goot for Target designer collection:

  1. Racer Back Dress available in either electric/bright blue or silver foil ($89.99)
  2. Scoop Back Cocktail Dress in black foil ($89.99)
  3. Cross Front Tube Dress in black ($89.99)
  4. Tie Waist Dress with Racer Back in black/grey contrast ($89.99)
  5. Pencil Skirt available in either black or bright green ($59.99)
  6. Black foil Leggings ($69.99)
  7. Racer Back Tank available in 3 different colors, bright green, navy and silver foil ($59.99)
  8. Scoop Neck Tank available in 3 different colors, bright blue, black and grey marle
  9. Cardigan available in either bright green, black or silver foil ($89.99)
  10. Knit Tailored Jacket in navy ($99.99)
  11. Long Line Hooded Zip Jacket in black foil ($129.99)
  12. Knit Trench Coat in either grey marle or silver foil ($129.99)

As you can see, there are four different dresses (Racer Back, Scoop Back, Cross Front Tube and Tie Waist dress with racer back), a pencil skirt, leggings, two different tanks (Racer Back and Scoop Back), a knit tailored jacket, a cardigan, a long zip front hooded jacket and the knit trench coat.

Josh Goot for Target Designer Collection - Great Value!

It's a great collection from a number of viewpoints. Firstly, when you consider that you’d normally pay at least $150 for a Josh Goot racer back tank and that you can pick up a Josh Goot for Target version for just $59.99 or a Josh Goot silver trench coat which usually retails at around $700 at leading international stores such as the prestigious London retailer Browns Focus, Colette emporium in Paris and Henri Bendel in New York, and in Target you’ll be up for just $129.99, given that the quality of material and manufacture is of a reasonable standard then the Josh Goot for Target designer collection offers great value. It offers us fashionistas a great opportunity to pick up a now internationally acclaimed Josh Goot collection of womens designer clothing at a significantly lower price tag!

Josh Goot for Target Designer Collection - From Day to Night, from Work to Play

The other thing I like about the Josh Goot for Target designer collection is that it allows for lots of mix-n-matching to create different looks to suit different occasions. As well as for comfy and stylish casual wear, as shown in the images above, you can easily create a more modern formal look for work. I just hope that at the price, we don't end up going to work and wearing the same Josh Goot designer styles as our work colleagues :(

Josh Goot for Target Designer Collection - A collection for all Shapes and Sizes?

At this time, my only reservation with this range of womens designer clothing is that while the pieces look great on the tall thin models showing them off, will they suit the size, shape and build of the average girl! We don't have long to wait and see. It will also be interesting to see if this womens designer clothing launch will be surrounded by the same mayhem and frenzy, with the pieces disappearing off the shelves within minutes as we saw during the Stella McCartney for Target designer collection launch. It's now only a matter of hours before we get the real drum on all of these issues.

Fashion Designer Josh Goot on Target!

Josh Goot | Target | Fashion | Designer | Clothing | Womens | Teens | Girls

Hands up those who thought it was going to be Lisa Ho! Maybe you were wishing for Alex Perry or perhaps Nicola Finetti or Zimmermann! Or may be, following on from Stella McCartney, you had your fingers crossed for another international fashion designer like New York based Marc Jacobs or Kenneth Cole. No, but the fashion pundits including Patty Huntington of The Sydney Morning Herald got it right and as predicted in my April 29 post, Fashion Designer Josh Goot for Target, today in their Press Release Target announced that the Australian and internationally acclaimed, award wining fashion designer label Josh Goot will be the next fashion designer for the Designers for Target collection following in the footsteps of Stella McCartney.

Josh Goot | Target | Fashion | Designer | Clothing | Collection | Womens | Teens | Girls

Now that it has been confirmed that Josh Goot will be the next fashion designer for the Designers for Target collection, two question spring to my mind. Firstly, what will the collection look like, and secondly, will this womens designer clothing collection be hot!

What will the Josh Goot for Target Collection Look Like?

So now what will the Josh Goot for Target collection look like? I spoke about this in my post Fashion Designer Josh Goot for Target on April 29 when I suggested that it will more than likely be based on the same predominantly grey marl signature shades as in previous Josh Goot collections. I mentioned that the clue to what a Josh Goot for Target collection would look like could be found in the Josh Goot collection showcased in Australian Fashion Week and on this point, in his comments during an interview with Rebekah van Druten of the ABC News: Arts & Entertainment site, "The Fashion End" Josh Goot said that "we can expect a lot of bright, fresh, young, sexy clothing. You can expect some new silhouettes from the brand, some new fabric and some new lines."

This has now been confirmed in Target's Press Release which states that "the slick modern womens wear line combines smart tailoring, great basics and sporty dresses. Goot offers signature shades of grey marl and silver, with a more sophisticated navy and black along with splashes of bright green and blue. This range takes inspiration from Josh Goot's trademark style, including key items from his current range. It features racer back tanks, leggings, pencil skirts, cardigans and blazers, easy dresses for everyday and evening, as well as the famous jersey trench coat." In the Press Release Josh Goot is quoted as saying that "we have utilised high quality blended knits and popular finishes - the result is a fresh and current look that lets the wearer feel cool and modern." And it mentions that the entire range for Target comprises Australian Merino Wool. All this sounds exciting so I can't wait to see the Josh Goot, Designers for Target collection.

Will the Josh Goot for Target Collection be Hot?

Josh Goot's designs are currently available through leading retailers including Colette in Paris, Browns Focus in London, Henri Bendel in New York and Neiman Marcus in Los Angeles. These are high end boutiques so you can imagine the prices! But soon the Josh Goot label will be available in a Target store near you.

As Josh Goot himself said when asked by Rebekah van Druten of the ABC News: Arts & Entertainment site, "The Shallow End" whether he would consider creating a collection for chain stores, "I think it's great to give a wider audience access to great clothes and great designs. I think it's really important. I think it's one of the more exciting initiatives or developments in global fashion this millennium."

Josh Goot | Target | Fashion | Designer | Clothing | Womens | Teens | Girls

The other question for me is, will the not so well known Josh Goot create the same mania and hysteria that Stella McCartney did with her womens designer clothing collection for Target ? Will Target shelves around the country be stripped bare within minutes of the arrival of the Josh Goot collection?

Well we don't have to wait too long to find out the answer to this question as the Josh Goot for Target collection, will be available in selected Target stores on June 19. Given that the clothes in the designer collection will be priced between $59.99 and $129.99 (Racer Back Tank $59.99, Pencil Skirt $59.99, Jersey Dresses $89.99, Tailored Jacket $99.99, Hooded Jacket $129.99, Trenchcoat $129.99), the Josh Goot collection for Target will be hot! Tarjay away :)

Fashion Designer Josh Goot for Target

Last year it was Sydney-based fashion designer labels Alice McCall and Tina Kalivas and the Melbourne designer label T.L. Wood and then, earlier this year it was Stella McCartney's. But who will be the next fashion designer for the Designers for Target collection?

Will it be another International fashion designer, perhaps New York based Marc Jacobs or Kenneth Cole, or Paris based Hermes, or Costume National of Milan? Or will it be yet another Australian-label, perhaps a designer from Sydney like fashion designer Lisa Ho, Alex Perry, Nicola Finetti and Zimmermann? Then it might well be one of the Melbourne based fashion designers like Alannah Hill? It's a question that everyone has been talking about ever since the Stella McCartney's mania hit Target Stores throughout Australia.

However, with Australian Fashion Week officially launched over night, there are some clues now emerging! In fact, the gossip now is that it will be the Australian and Internationally acclaimed, award wining fashion designer label Josh Goot. Josh Goot | Designer | Fashion | Clothing | Womens | Teen | Girls

Fashion guru Patty Huntington of The Sydney Morning Herald writes: "Two months after Target shelves around the country were stripped bare within minutes of the arrival of a Stella McCartney's collaboration collection, Target Australia plans to unveil a top secret project with one of Australia's brightest fashion lights, Josh Goot."

Huntington goes on to say that "Target is the principle sponsor of Goot's Fashion Week show on Thursday May 3 at 9.00am - and its logo appears on the invitation. But although neither the Target or Goot camps were spilling any other beans this afternoon, Fashion Season has learned that a Josh Goot/Target collaboration is due be either announced or else unveiled at Target in mid May."

When asked by Rebekah van Druten of the ABC News: Arts & Entertainment site, "The Shallow End" whether he would consider creating a collection for chain stores, Josh Goot replied: "Yeah I would love to. I think it's great. I think it's great to give a wider audience access to great clothes and great designs. I think it's really important. I think it's one of the more exciting initiatives or developments in global fashion this millennium."

So while it hasn't as yet been confirmed, it suggested that Josh Goot will be the next fashion designer for the Designers for Target collection and if it is then the question is, will the not so well known Josh Goot create the same hysteria that Stella McCartney's did with her womens designer clothing collection? Time will tell!

Also, if it is Josh Goot then two other question spring to my mind. Firstly, what can we expect from a Josh Goot/Tarjay collection and secondly, will it be based on the same predominantly grey marl signature shades as in previous Josh Goot collections? The clue to answers to these questions may be found in the Josh Goot collection planned for Australian Fashion Week and on this, the recent Josh Goot interview with Rebekah van Druten of the ABC News: Arts & Entertainment site, "The Fashion End" referred to above might give us some clues. Goot said that "we can expect a lot of bright, fresh, young, sexy clothing. You can expect some new silhouettes from the brand, some new fabric and some new lines. Also a slight ancient Roman current running through it."

And when it comes to the color, Josh Goot says that "What I've done this season is, the colour might be the same but the way that we're dealing with the grey marl is completely different. For example, originally we used it in the 100 per cent cotton. Now we're using it in 100 per cent viscose, we're using it in other blended knits - for example, modal and elastic ... So the grey marl is now being treated by us in a completely different way and performing at a much higher level. So we've evolved the grey marl and that's what the critics should really be noticing."

So it will be interesting to see if the fashion pundits are right and it is Josh Goot, and if so, what the final collection will look like. It will also be very interesting to see if the same hysteria surrounds the release of this collection as it did with the womens designer fashion by Stella McCartney's.

Stella McCartney Discounted Designer Sale Update!

Stella McCartney | Womens | Designer Fashion | Clothing | Sale

The Stella McCartney designer fashion sale launched yesterday in Target stores around the country, including Melbourne, Sydney and Perth was a great success and the reaction has been quite incredible but shoppers still have the chance to secure a piece from this limited-edition collection of Stella McCartney designer fashion.

"The reaction has been quite incredible and we’d like to thank Australian women for taking this range to their hearts”, says Larice Lewis, General Manager – Merchandise, Target.

“The collection re-enforces Target’s philosophy that all Australians have the right to great style at affordable prices, and allows customers to purchase a designer item at a fraction of the normal price,” she adds.

The good news is that according to Ms Lewis, customers who missed out on purchasing a piece from the designer fashion range yesterday, still may have the opportunity to secure Stella McCartney for Target merchandise.

“Whilst some stores have completely sold out, Target is currently consolidating stock across all stores and key metropolitan stores will be re-stocked. Customers should visit Designers for Target to locate their nearest store to ascertain how much stock is still available. Some customers purchased items without trying them on for correct sizing, so we are noticing some returns of stock to particular stores,” she added.

It’s important to point out to customers returning items they consider too big, that Stella McCartney’s own signature look is over-sized and generous. The sizing for the Target collection reflects Stella McCartney’s own range, as well as current fashion trends, with a key look for the season being the oversized, chunky knit worn with leggings and boots.

Despite advising customers via the web-site and in-store signage that the Stella McCartney range was for personal shoppers only, some Stella McCartney items are currently trading on e-bay at inflated prices. Target’s advice to customers is to check their local stores before purchasing items on e-bay, as there is still Stella McCartney designer items in stock in select stores.

Stella McCartney Designer Discount Clothes on Target!

Stella McCartney | Womens | Designer Fashion | Clothing | Sale

All the reports are now in and it was definitely nothing short of a buying frenzy at Target department stores today. The budget Stella McCartney, sassy and chic, winter collection of new women and teen designer clothing as first paraded on the fashion runway during the 2007 L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, was finally released for sale. Reports are that within half an hour of opening it was a designer fashion sale sell-out at Target stores around the country, including Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

Believe me it was no different at the Melbourne store that I went to and with the eager women and teen lovers of designer fashion stretched out in a line as far as I could see and around the block (see image below), when the doors finally opened at 10:00am these fashionistas simply paid no heed to the clearly visible "no running" signs. Possessed with an insatiable shopping appetite they just raced to the Stella McCartney fashion stacked racks and once there, just grabbed anything that they could get their hot little hands on. Within 20 minutes it was virtually all over; racks emptied, shelves bare and even the mannequins stripped naked of their Stella designer fashion clothes :).

Queue outside Target Store in Melbourne | for Stella McCartney | Designer Fashion | Sale

It's not hard to imagine what any department store with three or four hundred frenzied women and teen shoppers all after the same limited designer fashion clothing would be like. To give you some idea of the frenzy, some of the racks were emptied within 30 seconds and, for example, when the second batch of trench coats were brought out to re-stock the empty shelves, they suffered the same fate but without even having made it to the shelves. These hot Stella McCartney coats were snatched straight out of the shop assistant's hands.

I've been to many designer fashion sales but have never ever been to or seen a fashion sale anything like this! There were even women and teens climbing over each other and blindly grabbing anything that they could reach. As well as being stripped naked of its chic designer clothes, one of the mannequins even lost both its arms and I reckon with some of the war-like face-to-face stares, some of the girls could have easily ended up in the very same state if it were not for the security staff present!!

Of course this behaviour is all explainable! It is rare after all to have designer fashion clothing available at an affordable price and this Stella McCartney, Target promotion certainly gave trendy women and teens a fantastic opportunity to get designer clothes at bargain prices. The bargain prices and limited stocks together made the Stella McCartney range highly sought after but the real surprise to me when I first heard about this designer fashion sale was that instead of it being run by the higher-end designer fashion retailers like Myer and David Jones, it was happening at Target, a normally fashion on a budget shop. What a coupe!

Stella McCartney | Designer Fashion | Empire Dress

Before I got to the sale my plan was to buy the Stella McCartney dove-grey, taffeta trench coat, the olive green silk dress with beading around the neckline and the sassy and chic, long V-necked wool-cashmere jumper similar to that worn by celebrity Jennifer Aniston. I thought, that the much-hyped Stella McCartney trench coat in grey and navy at $200 and the long, V-necked cardi at $150 were must-have fashion bargains. When compared to the $400 price tag for a similar coat at Country Road, the Stella coat was a definite designer fashion bargain at $200, and after all, it was a Stella McCartney designer coat.

However, despite my best plans, in the frenzy all I managed to grab in my size was the Stella McCartney midnight colored Silk/Cotton Empire Dress shown above ($180) and the Silk/Cotton, dusk, pleated blouse shown below ($100). My girlfriend was a little luckier and despite the chaos and fast emptying racks, she managed to grab the Stella McCartney suit jacket and the billowing top in blush pink. The jacket in particular, is a really sassy and chic fashion garment with beautiful stitch detailing.

Stella McCartney | Designer Fashion | Pleated Blouse

In the mayhem there was absolutely no chance to visit the change rooms and try the fit before you buy :( It was simply a matter of grab what designer fashions you could, join and get through the long cash register queue, and then get the hell out of there in one piece and with your bag of designer fashions sill in your possession!!

This Stella McCartney and Target promotion was certainly a win-win-win. Target had a massive win over its designer fashion big sisters Myer and David Jones; it was a great way for Stella McCartney to reach a wider women and teen, designer fashion audience and to get them to know her line, and of course fashionistas got the benefit of buying high-end fashion from an international Fashion Designer like Stella McCartney at bargain prices.

Although a limited collection, what I also like about this Stella McCartney line is that even with a few garments, say a couple of jackets and tops, a pair of designer jeans, and a skirt or two, you can easily mix and match to create a number of very different, sassy and chic, designer fashion outfits.

Stella McCartney Discounted Designer Clothes!

Stella McCartney | Fashion | Designer | Clothes | Coat | Women | Teen | Girls

Fashion designer, Stella McCartney has designed a limited-edition 42-piece collection for Australian Target department stores. But we’ve seen this before, haven’t we? I was hoping for something fresh and new but the clothes in this Target department store line look similar to that she designed for H&M some 2 years ago. You may recall that in November 2005, Stella McCartney launched a hugely successful one off collection with H&M, entitled "Stella McCartney for H&M". But still I love Stella and in fact, I bought a couple of Stella McCartney pieces in London. I like the way she cuts, and the pastel and neutral colors will suit fashion business and style conscious fashionistas. The range takes inspiration from the unique signature Stella looks for a fraction of the regular price and features key items from her collections including Autumn/Winter essentials.

The collection was first launched on the runway and watched by a sell out crowd on Saturday in the Fashion Cube marquee in the Melbourne Museum forecourt as part of the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.

Stella McCartney | Fashion | Designer | Clothes | Top | Women | Teen | Girls Stella McCartney | Fashion | Designer | Clothes | Top | Women | Teen | Girls

The Stella McCartney collection for Target department stores incorporates a full range of separates including designer skinny jeans in black, indigo and oat, pants, tailored jackets, swing coats and taffeta trench coats, silk dresses, over sized chunky designer knits in shades of charcoal, oat and dusk, blouses, tee-shirts and camisoles in a range of fabrics and colors from black to sage, beige, charcoal and teal blue. I think at $200 AUD the trench coat will be popular as will the T-shirts at $50 AUD and while not cheap, so will the silk dress at $180 AUD.

Stella McCartney | Fashion | Designer | Clothes | Cardigan | Women | Teen | Girls

Visit Stella McCartney to see the full range but the collection is available in selected Target department stores nationally from today, March 12. So if you're after discounted Stella McCartney designer clothes, your nearest Target store is the place to be today, or is it?

Stella McCartney launched her label in April 2001 under her own name as a joint venture with the Gucci Group. The brand already includes a successful range of womens ready to wear, accessories, fragrances and eyewear and earlier this year Stella McCartney launched her luxury skincare line called "Care by Stella McCartney", which contains 100% active organic ingredients.
