The Money's in the Prada Handbag!

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Buckskin | Handbag

Well did you manage to purchase any of the unique Prada prototypes at the Prada Spring/Summer Women's 2008 Fashion Auction which ended on Tuesday? The Prada handbags, skirts, pants and boots were certainly one-of-a-kinds in terms of design, style and colors. Here's a brief roundup on this auction.

Prada Designer Pants

The first items on the bidding block were three pairs of couture pants. The low-rise bell-bottom Cyclamen Pants, as shown in the pictures directly below, are made off silk fabric as used extensively in haute couture collections of the fifties. These very unique pants, in cyclamen

3 Prada Cyclamen Couture Pants 3 Prada Cyclamen Couture Pants B

color and shell print are printed with a 20-color flat screen process and appeared with different print in the last Prada fashion show for the Spring/Summer 2008 women's collection. The one-of-a-kind Prada designer pants were purchased during the auction for 2000 Euros. There can be no doubt that these Prada pants in hot cyclamen color are super chic but I just can't get my head around the large bell-bottoms.

2 Prada Sunny Yellow PantsNext in the bidding we saw the low-rise bell-bottom Sunny Yellow Pants as shown in the picture on the left. These pants are made of silk gazar, generated by a 20-color flat screen printing process which ensures a richer, more accurate result compared to the normal 10-color printing technique. Screens with the designs are used to apply the inks on the cloth. A specific screen is used to print each separate portion of color and given that this involved a 20-color flat screen printing process, you can easily see that the end result is spectacular.

Although very similar in style to the Prada Cyclamen Couture Pants, due to the motif print and its sunny yellow color, the Sunny Yellow Pants are certainly unique and given that it attracted a highest bid of 2100 Euros, one can imagine that they will be worn proudly. Once again however, because of the large bell-bottom they are not my style and I'm not so hot on the yellow color, well not in pants anyway!

1 Prada Orange Pants The third item in the first group of prototypes auctioned was the Orange Pants shown in the picture here on the right. Once again, like the two prior items, this prototype is a unique low-rise bell-bottom pants created exclusively for this auction.

The silk gazar fabric is printed through the same 20-color process that guarantees a more accurate result compared to the normal 10-color printing technique. This fashion piece is absolutely unique due to its combination of color and print, as for the cyclamen and sunny yellow ones. The highest bid for these was 2000 Euros. Again because of the bell-bottom design, this one-of-a-kind fashion piece, is not my style.

Prada Handbag and Designer Boots

A Plum Buckskin Prada handbag and two pairs of Prada designer boots made up the second group of items which were auctioned off in the week ending April 29, 2008. Shown in the pictures below, I described each of these items in my Exclusive Prada Designer Auction post of Thursday April 24, 2008.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Buckskin | Handbag Prada | Designer | Plum Buckskin | Boot Prada | Designer | Antique Rose | Boot

The Plum Buckskin Prada Handbag went for 4000 Euros, the Plum Buckskin Boot for 1450 Euros (pictured in the center directly above), and the Antique Rose Buckskin Boot (pictured above on the far right) went for 1300 Euros. I have to say that out of all items, the Plum Buckskin Prada Handbag was my favorite piece in the auction but more on this later.

Prada Designer Skirts

You've got the pants, the boots and the Prada handbag so now what about a unique Prada skirt or two to match? Well that's what the final part of the Prada Spring/Summer Women's 2008 Fashion Auction was all about, skirts!

Prada | Sunny Yellow Silk Gazar | Designer | Fashion | Skirt The first of these is the Ankle-length, Sunny Yellow Skirt shown here on the left. This skirt is made of silk gazar printed with a shell design as used in the last Prada Spring/Summer 2008 Women's Fashion Show. Gazar is a heavyweight organza that was used extensively in haute couture collections of the fifties. This skirt was purchased at auction for 1500 Euros. Now I didn't like the low-rise bell-bottom Sunny Yellow Pants described above but I do like this skirt, and even in yellow!

The second skirt is the shell design, Cyclamen Silk Gazar Skirt shown immediately below on the left. This skirt is also inspired to the 2008 Prada Spring/Summer Women's Collection. The luxurious print portrays a world full of carnivorous flowers, dragons, hybrid creatures, and mysterious fairies. As the previous, this prototype is absolutely unique as it is the only version in this color in existence. The Cyclamen Silk Gazar Skirt was purchased at auction for 1300 Euros.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Cyclamen Silk Gazar | Skirt Prada | Designer | Fashion | Orange Silk Gazar | Skirt

The third skirt in the group is the Orange Silk Gazar Skirt shown in the picture directly above on the right. This gorgeous skirt is decorated with a shell print and carnivorous flowers, dragons, hybrid creatures, and mysterious fairies. A similar model was shown for the first time during the Spring/Summer 2008 fashion shown in Milan but this piece is unique thanks to its orange color. As in the case of the Cyclamen Silk Gazar Skirt, this unique, one-of-a-kind item was purchased for 1300 Euros.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Orange Knee-Length Patchwork | Skirt

The final piece in this group is the Orange Knee-Length Patchwork Skirt shown in the pictures directly above. This is another piece in the collection made of printed silk gazar, a heavy-weight organza used extensively in haute couture collections that was quite popular in the fifties. This prototype in orange is decorated with cut-out elements that are hand-sewn on the skirt. This unique, one-of-a-kind item was purchased for 1700 Euros.

Final Words - The Money's in the Prada Handbag

I would love to hear from you if you managed to snag one of these covetable pieces. What's your story? What motivated you to bid and finally purchase the piece(s) that you did? Will you wear the fashion and take the Prada Handbag with you or will simply keep these with your coveted private collection? Do you perhaps own a boutique and plan to display your newly acquired treasure in your store? What ever your story I would love to hear from you.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Buckskin | Handbag Amazingly one seriously keen Prada lover snatched eight out of the ten items auctioned. Someone who goes by the screen name of Transito paid 4000 Euros for the Plum Buckskin Prada Handbag, 1300 Euros for the Antique Rose Buckskin Boot and 1450 Euros for the Plum Buckskin Boot. Add to these Transito also purchased the Cyclamen Silk Gazar Skirt (Euros 1300), the Orange Silk Gazar Skirt (Euros 1300), the Orange Knee-Length Patchwork Skirt (1700 Euros), the Sunny Yellow Pants (2100 Euros) and the Orange Pants (2000 Euros). Now that's a total of 15,150 Euros or $23,380 USD so fashionista Transito is one hell of a Prada lover. Will these prototype Prada fashions end up as part of a rare collection or will we see them back on some other auction site at some later date? I'd love to know. Transito, you take care of that Prada Handbag. It's really chic!!!

Prada Pink Paillette Designer Dress

Along with two other designer prototype items, the gorgeous knee-length silk skirt (Size: S) layered with strips of fuschia and pink paillette sequins as shown in the pictures below was today added by Prada to its designer prototype auction at prada.com. This Prada designer dress is completely handmade and is finished with a hem of matching fuschia cock feathers.

Prada | Pink | Paillette | Designer | Dress

A similar design was shown in black paillette for the A/W 2007 catwalk collection however this Prada prototype designer dress is absolutely unique as it is the only version in this color in existence. Like the Prada Vanilla Flapper Designer Dress, and the Prada Orange Paillette skirt, it fuses elements of Prada’s current style seen in the A/W catwalk collection with influences from 20s design. It's sassy, chic and feminine. I love the color and hip hugging style. I really like it! This very unique designer dress makes for a great party/dance skirt.

Prada Vintage Black Designer High-Heel Shoes

A second item added today in the Prada prototype auction at prada.com is the distinctive vintage calf leather high-heeled ‘Maryjanes’ (Size: 39) in black and brown as shown in the pictures below. Prada | Designer | High-Heel | Shoes

The distinctive colors of this prototype shoe have never been seen on the catwalk in this closed-toe style. Although similar to the nude and light brown Prada Designer High-Heeled Shoes previously added to the auction, these are the only ones of their kind in existence.

Labels: ,

Prada Black Designer Clutch Pochette

Prada today also added to its prototype auction at prada.com, the black clutch pochette made from layered paillette sequin strips. As shown in the pictures below, the opening of this Prada designer handbag is finished with knotted silk rosettes. The designer handbag is completed by a small black leather tag stamped with the silver metal logo. Inside is black logo-printed lining and interior pocket.

Prada | Black | Clutch Pochette | Designer | Handbag

Whilst this paillette design was used on skirts and dresses for the A/W07, this is the only handbag in existence made using this fabric so you won't find it anywhere else not even in Prada stores.

Prada Vintage Peep-toe Designer Shoes

The second item added today in the Prada prototype auction at prada.com is the distinctive black and brown peep-toe patent high-heels with curved spline heel (Size: 39) shown in the pictures below. The vintage black calf leather in these designer shoes fades away to light brown at the square cut toe to reveal antique style brogue stitching.

Prada | Designer | High-heel | Shoes

These designer shoes are once again truly unique as this prototype was never shown on the catwalk and is the only example of its kind in this style and color. Visit Prada.com to see the other unique designer items that you can still bid on.

Labels: ,

Prada Vanilla Flapper Designer Dress

The third designer item added to the Prada prototype auction at prada.com. is the really chic, Vanilla Flapper designer dress (Size: S) shown in the pictures below. It's a drop-waisted, sleeveless dress in vanilla embossed wool/silk.

Prada | Vanilla Flapper | Designer | Dress

As shown in the pictures, the neckline of this Prada designer dress in sheer gauze/silk-organza is separated from the bodice by contrasting light-green stitching at the bust and by black stitching at the waist. The skirt is made of strips of the now familiar (see previous designer dresses added to the auction such as the Prada Nude Paillette Dress and the Prada Orange Paillette Skirt) shiny vanilla paillettes layered over real cock feathers. The pleated back features a half-belt with bow.

Be seen in something top-of-the-line and entirely unique, this designer dress has never been shown on the catwalk. It fuses elements of Prada’s current style seen in the A/W catwalk collection with influences from 20s design. The vanilla is a much softer color than in the previous designer dresses added to the auction.

Designer Handbags - Part 1

Handbags are an important fashion accessory, but will one or two handbags do the trick?

Gucci | Fashion | Designer | Evening | Handbag | WomensSeveral times before I've mentioned that like most fashionistas I just love handbags. In fact, I have many including low-cost handbags, mid-priced handbags and even some designer handbags. Like a sassy pair of shoes, I just love the way a great bag can set off an outfit even the basics like jeans and tee shirts but I can't stand accessorizing different outfits and different moods each time with the same one or two handbags, and the same applies to other accessories like shoes, jewelry and even watches.

It's because of this that like shoes and jewelry, handbags have become important fashion accessories. So I have bags that match different outfits and even different shoes and I change them from one outfit to the next.  It's about creating different looks while looking good, being trendy and stylish!

Designer Handbags are Super Chic and Trendy!

Prada | eDesignerShop | Fashion | Designer | Handbag | WomensIt's precisely this that I find really super chic and trendy about Hollywood A-list fashionistas like Paris Hilton and Halle Berry. It's not only that they go for top brand, designer handbags, it's also the fact that they don't just have one designer handbag, they have many. From one day to the next just about each time they're spotted they're seen with a different handbag to compliment their style and to suit the different mood or occasion! This to me is what gives them that ultra-trendy and stylish look. It's super chic!

We All Want the Latest Trendy Designer Handbags!

The other thing of course is that styles of handbags also change from one season to the next and it's this constant changing that creates the excitement in fashion and style. So even though I already own so many, I'm always on the lookout for the next perfect handbag.

Prada | Fashion | Designer | Handbag | WomensI guess that it's because of this that we want the latest trendy handbags from leading designer brands as worn by celebrities and models, the beautiful people, don't we? Of course it's true that pop divas, celebrities and socialites like th e Hilton heiress can afford a new look and a different designer handbag from season to season and from one day to the next, but what about the woman who doesn't want to or just can't afford to spend a fortune on designer handbags and purses?

But Can We All Afford the latest Designer Handbags?

efashionhouse.com | Hermes | Fashion | Designer | Handbag | Womens The prices of designer handbags have skyrocketed of late and while it surprises me that some women still continue to buy $1000 and $2000 handbags on a regular basis, unfortunately, when it comes to designer handbags, to suit different moods and occasions not everyone can afford to purchase and own a collection of  top designer labels like Coach, Gucci, Fendi, Hermes, Jimmy Choo, Mulberry and Prada, and the list goes on. While willing, most of fashionistas are sadly unable to pay the top prices that designer handbags attract and just can't justify a closet full of them in different colors and styles to suit our different moods and looks from one day to the next!

How can we Afford a Collection of Quality, Stylish, Fashionable and Trendy Handbags?

Gucci | Fashion | Clutch | Designer | Handbag | WomensSo what's the solution? How do we fashionistas satisfy the need for quality, functional and practical handbags to suit different outfits and different moods and occasions? How can we get the Hollywood A-list look when it comes to handbag design and style but without breaking the bank?

In Part 2 of my Designer Handbags journey I will begin to explain how I have and you too can easily afford to have a closet full of quality, stylish, fashionable and trendy handbags for each mood and occasion.

Prada Orange Gradient High-Heeled Shoes

The third item that Prada added today to its designer prototype auction at Prada.com is this pair of orange and black patent Mary Jane high heels (Size: 40). As you can see in the pictures below, a gradient colorway sees the very distinctive super-gloss orange of these designer shoes sharply fade to black.

Prada | Orange Gradient | Designer | High-Heeled Shoes

With black elasticated ankle strap these Prada designer shoes are offset by a pointed closed-toe and curved spline heel. These designer shoes are similar to the open-toed model which appeared in the A/W07 Catwalk collection. They are also similar in style to the yellow and black patent designer high-heeled Maryjanes added to the Prada prototype auction site on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 (see: Exclusive Prada Auction).

The distinctive colors of this prototype have never been seen on the catwalk in this particular closed-toe style. These designer shoes are the only ones of their kind in existence and will certainly become collectibles. They look great being worn with the Prada black mohair designer coat.

Labels: ,

Prada Orange Leather Mini Toto

Today Prada also added the cute orange leather mini toto to its designer prototype auction at Prada.com. The square mini-tote shown in the pictures below, is made of soft orange nappa leather with a surrounding brown zip trim. On the inside of this Prada designer handbag is the signature brown logo-printed lining and an interior zip pocket. The bag has short leather handles and is finished with Prada’s distinctive metal logo.

Prada | Orange Leather Mini Toto | Designer | Handbag

This style of handbag has never been produced in this particular color. It is truly a unique Prada designer handbag as there is only one in existence and I love it! Visit Prada.com to see the other unique designer items that you can still bid on.

Prada Black Mohair Designer Coat

Prada.com today added three new items to its designer prototype auction. The first prototype item added is the really chic, black fur/mohair designer coat (Size: S) shown in the pictures below. As shown in the pictures, and note the matching orange and black shoes being worn in this case, the coat is sleeveless with side pockets.

A bright orange-red stitch divides this designer coat at the waist and leads into a fully layered skirt of paillette strips in a combination of bright yellow and distinctive orange shades. At the back of the coat a tail is formed from a profusion of orange cockerel feathers applied by hand.

Prada | Black Mohair | Designer Coat

A similar example of this design was shown in a different colorway as part of the A/W07 catwalk collection. It's also similar to the Prada Quartz Mohair designer coat that was added to the Prada prototype auction site on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 (see: Exclusive Prada Auction). However this prototype is the only existing version in this color in existence so you won't find it anywhere else not even in Prada stores.

Remember that the auction for each designer item has a maximum duration of 7 days from the moment of the online placement of the auction for that item and the time remaining until the termination of the auction is constantly indicated on Prada.com by a counting down clock. The highest bidder for a given item will be the successful bidder/purchaser of that Prada designer item. At any time you can track the bid history of each product through a graphic chart. If you're after something super-chic and truly exclusive, then the Prada.com designer prototype auction is definitely a must visit.

Prada Black Folder Bag

The third item added to the Prada designer prototype auction site today is the black, square wool folder handbag shown in the pictures below. This Prada designer handbag has bow and metal logo detail on the front and short double handles in alligator.

The metal logo is incorporated into a hardware detail that surrounds the bow. The inside lining of the bag is black logo-printed and has an interior pocket fastened at the top by a silver zip.

Prada | Black Folder | Designer | Handbag

This Prada designer prototype handbag incorporates hardware design details that can be seen in the Prada A/W07 collection, but not other handbag of this style, fabric and color has ever been shown or produced. It is truely a unique Prada designer handbag as there is only one in existence. I love it!

Prada Knee-High Boots

The second item added to the Prada designer prototype auction site today are the knee-high boots (size 41) shown in the pictures below. They are described as being two-tone black and brown knee-high lace-up boots in trappeur vintage leather. The black of the main body of the boots fades into a light brown at the toe, which is enriched with brogue-style punching, The boots have an inside zip fastening.

Prada Knee-High Boots

Once again these distinctive Prada designer boots have never been shown as part of the catwalk collection. They are the only existing example in the world of this particular style and color combination. Luckily for me they're not my size...I don't like them at all :)

Labels: ,

Prada Blue Sequin Designer Coat

The midnight blue double-breasted designer coat in embossed wool-silk shown in the pictures below was today added to the Prada Designer prototype auction. It's similar in many respects to the Brown, Green and Blue, single-breasted Prada designer coat added on Friday, July 13. The distinctive brown stitching below the waist leads into a layered skirt of navy paillette strips, finished with a hem of real cock feathers similar to those used in the Orange Paillette Skirt added to the auction on Wednesday July 11. This designer coat has a diagonal breast pocket and two front flap pockets at the hip. Once again it's the below waist part of the coat that doesn't appeal to me.

Prada | Blue Sequin | Designer | Coat

The distinctive color and fabric combination of this Prada prototype designer coat has never been seen on the catwalk and while it is the only existing example of this particular design in existence, this design is not for me :)

Prada Designer Auction - Set 3

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Coat

The Prada designer prototype auction continues with a third set of unique items being added. But now, from yellow, black and orange as in the previous items released for auction, the dominant designer color has shifted to green and black.

Described as being a brown/green coat, this Prada designer coat is better described as being a brown/green/blue coat as blue is also definitely one of its dominant colors. This single-breasted light brown three-buttoned coat in wool-silk radzmire with contrasting strips of beige and violet stitching at the waist is certainly something! When I first saw the coat I immediately thought that it looked like a hybrid male/female coat and sure enough the upper body of the coat employs the traditional design of a classic men's coat with brown buttons and two front flap pockets at the hip. It's the below waist part of the coat that doesn't appeal to me. Here the hem is realized in precious moss-green mohair that has been treated to create a fur effect.

This Prada prototype designer coat has never been produced in this combination of colors and materials and while it is the only existing example of this particular design in existence, this design is not for me :)

The next Prada prototype item added is the distinctively colorful green and black flat patent loafer. As you can see in the pictures here, a gradient colorway sees the glossy green of the toe fade to black at the ankle and heel, with a double line of black stitching midway. They are certainly unique and would go well with the brown/green Prada designer coat mentioned above.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Shoes

The third Prada designer prototype item added today is the glossy mini trunk in aquamarine and aluminium faded patent leather. This Prada designer handbag has short double handles offset by iron platens and is characterized by the use of umbrella stitching and unique metal lettering logo. The Prada designer handbag has black logo-printed lining and an interior pocket.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Handbag

Looking at the latest 3 designer items added to the Prada designer prototype auction, collectively they make a matching set with the strong green color being the designer thread between them. I think that if I were interested in any one of these 3 Prada designer fashion items then I would have to bid for each of them and get the set. You'd certainly stand out in the crowd wearing these Prada designer items but the question is, if you bought them would you wear them or treat them as exclusive collectibles?

More Prada Designer Items on Auction

Earlier this week (see Exclusive Prada Auction) Prada launched its auction of designer prototypes originally created for the catwalk of the Fall/Winter 2007 season. Three items were included on Monday namely, a Prada designer dress, a Prada designer coat and a pair of Prada designer shoes. Well now three new Prada designer prototypes have been added to this unique Prada auction.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Orange Paillette | Skirt

The first item added is the Prada Orange Paillette skirt shown here. This knee-length silk skirt is layered with stripes of orange paillette sequins. The handmade designer skirt is finished with a hem of matching orange cock feathers.

Like the other Prada designs being auctioned, this prototype is absolutely unique as it is the only existing version in this color in existence. A similar Prada design was shown in black paillette for the A/W 07 catwalk collection and I have to say that I would prefer this Prada designer dress in black as it would be much easier to accessorize. I just don't have orange shoes!

Also added is the sassy sleeveless navy blue, silk radzmire dress shown below. This ultra light Prada designer dress has a trim of dark blue stitching at the neckline and arms. The gorgeous layered skirt is made of a mixture of double cloth, cashgora, and operated wool stripes with contrasting multi colored stitching in green, yellow and royal blue. It also comes complete with a ruffled navy organza petticoat. Drawing on a combination of different styles from various collections, this Prada designer dress is entirely unique and as I say I think it's really sassy.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Silk Radzmire | the Dress Prada | Designer | Fashion | Silk Radzmire | the layered Skirt

The third item added is the distinctive yellow and black open-toed patent high-heeled 'Maryjanes'. As you can see they are similar to the yellow and black pointed-toe Prada high-heeled 'Maryjanes' we saw introduced earlier this week. The open-toe Maryjanes are in the same color as the pointed-toe version, a gradient colorway sees the super-gloss yellow fade to black. With a thick black elasticated ankle strap these Prada designer shoes are offset by a pointed toe and curved spline heel. Again they are the only ones of their kind in existence.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | High-heeled Shoes

As in the case of the first 3 items added to the Prada auction, there can be little doubt that these very unique Prada designer items are exclusive collectibles. It will be interesting to see what Prada designer prototypes will next be added to the Prada auction.

Exclusive Prada Auction

Prada.com is auctioning a number of its designer prototypes originally created for the catwalk of the Fall/Winter 2007 season. There are currently 3 items on auction, a Prada designer dress, a Prada designer coat and a pair of Prada designer shoes. The auction for each designer item has a maximum duration of 7 days from the moment of the online placement of the auction for that item and the time remaining until the termination of the auction is constantly indicated on the site by a counting down clock. The highest bidder for a given item will be the successful bidder/purchaser of that Prada designer item. At any time you can track the bid history of each product through a graphic chart.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Fiocco | Dress

Of the three items on auction, the first is a unique beige colored Fiocco designer dress (Size: S) with a faded green embossed bodice and voluminous wool silk radzmire skirt. The dress is sleeveless and has a round neck and comes complete with a beige organza peep-through petticoat. This Prada designer dress is described as being block stitched with bright orange thread that was one of the main accent shades of the A/W 07 catwalk collection. It is finished with a red belt in double Shetland stitching fixed by hand.

A unique prototype for the A/W 07 collection, this designer dress has never been shown on the catwalk and this is the only one in existence.

Prada | Designer | Fashion | Quartz Mohair Coat

The second item now being auctioned is the Quartz Mohair Coat (Size: S) shown here. Like the Fiocco Prada dress, this Prada designer coat is sleeveless and has a round-neck. The coat is made from quartz colored mohair treated with a fur effect. As shown in the image, the coat has two side pockets and divided by a stripe of black stitching below the wasit, the coat's skirt is formed of layers of beautiful fuschia pink sequin strips interspersed with matching long cock feathers at the back. A similar example of this Prada design was shown in different colors as part of the A/W07 catwalk collection.

Also currently being auctioned are the gorgeous size 38, yellow and black patent high-heeled 'Maryjanes'. The distinctive super-gloss yellow of these designer shoes fades to black. With a black elasticated ankle strap, these shoes are offset by a pointed closed-toe and curved spline heel. These designer shoes are the only ones of their kind in existence and have never been seen on the catwalk in this closed-toe style. They are gorgeous but I have to say that I'm not at all sure if these shoes are for me.

There can be little doubt that these very unique Prada designer items are exclusive collectibles and it will be interesting to see if and what other designer prototype items will be auctioned after these items are finally sold.
