Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel Update (March 11, 2010)

Greetings fellow SATC fans! Spring is just around the corner and, with less than three months to go, so is the long awaited SATC movie sequel! When SATC 2 hits theaters on May 28, we’ll finally know for sure what the writers have in store for our fave fashionistas, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes-Brady (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt (Kristen Davis). But until then, we’ll continue to bring you the latest buzz on the sequel to the 2008 box office smash.

SJP and Halston: The Fashion World’s New Power Couple

On the fashion front, it’s safe to say that we’ll be seeing SJP in a lot more Halston Heritage than just the $325 White v-neck jersey dress that she sports in the official SATC movie sequel poster.

Carrie | Sarah Jessica Parker | SJP | Sex and the City | SATC 2 | Movie | Sequel

The fashion world is aflutter with exciting news that the style icon has been appointed president and chief creative officer of the luxury label’s more budget-friendly brand. Launched just last year and now available at NET-A-PORTER, Halston Heritage quickly gained a loyal following among fashion A-listers such as Parker and Golden Globe winning model-turned-actress, Chloe Sevigny. And with news of SJP’s new role, combined with its prominence in the upcoming SATC movie sequel, Halston’s chic diffusion line is sure to experience skyrocketing success!

In the article, First Came Lindsay Lohan, Then Came Sarah Jessica Parker, NYMag.com reports that Sarah Jessica is taking an equity stake in the firm, a move that sets her apart from a number of recent entrants into the world of celebrity-endorsed clothing lines. For those who might dismiss SJP’s involvement as little more than a publicity ploy, the article quotes the actress’s first interview with WWD Sarah Jessica Parker's Halston Deal: Celebs Sweeping Fashion World, the preeminent industry insider that broke news of her new position in January.

Addressing the question of her qualifications, she stated,

“I would say it’s a good question and it’s a fair question,” adding, “You could make many arguments to why I am not qualified. I would say that I am very aware of the enormity of the titles, and how important they are, and my response is that they (the board) felt confident in their decisions.”

In the same WWD interview, this time cited by online interactive magazine Zimbio.com in its article Sarah Jessica Parker Named President and Chief Creative Officer at Halston, SJP exhibited her typical humility when discussing her newbie status with the line.

There is a huge amount I don’t know and I am very candid about that, and I am excited to learn. There are going to be things that come up that I am equipped to deal with and answer and respond to, and there are things that I will be happily mentored on by Bonnie (Bonnie Takhar, Halston CEO). I have no allergy to learning.

The ever stylish actress, who turns 45 on March 25 (Happy Birthday, SJP!) has already made a splash in her new executive role, appearing at the February 15 unveiling of Halston’s Autumn / Winter 2010 collection during New York Fashion Week. The much buzzed-about event also marked the debut of London-based fashion designer Marios Schwab as Halston’s creative director. The 33-year-old Schwab – who launched his own line in 2005, becoming an immediate favorite of Victoria Beckham and Kylie Minogue – presented a stunning array of structured pieces that reflected his penchant for sleek, body-conscious dressing.

Discussing his vision for the hotly anticipated collection, Schwab told WWD that the palette, which includes cool taupe, dusky blue and violet, was inspired by the 1978 thriller The Eyes of Laura Mars. He added, “I used the (original Halston) archive from memory, and I wanted to take elements that I love about Halston and transform them.”

We won’t see the first collection under SJP’s direction until this September when Halston unveils its Spring-Summer 2011 line. In the meantime though, take a peek below at the Halston Autum Winter 2010 footage from New York Fashion Week and let us know what you think! You’ll catch a glimpse of SJP at 00:18 looking stunning in a Metallic Gold Halston Heritage top and slim-fitting Black Leather pants.

SJP and Former SATC Stylist Choose Chanel for the Oscars

With her new title of president and chief creative officer at Halston, SJP probably surprised some style-watchers when she appeared at the Academy Awards on March 7, not in a piece from the timeless American line, but in Chanel Couture. Still, it’s hard to argue with the high-fashion appeal of the butter Yellow satine gown that was the talk of the Twitterverse as soon as she hit the red carpet (see Sarah Jessica Parker wows Twitter with Chanel at Oscars). The selection, which was one of the final looks of the Spring 2010 Chanel Couture show in January, was a collaborative effort between SJP and her longtime stylist, Tracy L. Cox. One of Hollywood’s most sought-after stylists, Cox is a former assistant to SATC stylist Patricia Field and worked on several episodes of the SATC series himself, including the unforgettable “An American in Paris.”

While the distinct Yellow hue of the SATC 2 star’s Oscar gown was a clear showstopper, viewers might have missed one of her more unexpected accessories. Amidst a wristful of Fred Leighton diamond bangles, SJP sported a temporary “bracelet” tattoo also from Chanel. According to a March 8 tweet from Glamour Fashion, the subtle accessory is from the fashion house’s limited edition, Spring “Les Trompe l’Oeil” temporary skin art collection. What a fun way to inject some edge into a lavishly feminine look! What did you think of SJP’s Oscar fashion choices? Was she a hit or a miss?

Casting News: Twenty-Something Hotties Stir Things Up!

In casting news, we reported in our Sex and the City Movie Sequel August update that British tabloid staple Katie Price had unsuccessfully auditioned for the role of Erin, a lesbian Irish nanny. Now comes word that the character will be played by a different British beauty, 28-year old blonde stunner Alice Eve. In an interview with MTV.com, Eve was coy about how her character will fit into the SATC 2 plot, saying, “I spice things up a bit,” then adding, “I’m in it to win it.” The actress, who stars in this month’s She’s Out of My League, did confirm that it is Charlotte who brings Erin on board for nanny duties, but revealed little else about the role including whether her scenes were shot in NYC, Morocco or both. Interestingly enough, we haven’t heard anything about the lesbian element since last summer. However, Variety in its October 2009 post, Alice Eve cast in Sex and the City 2, does report that Eve’s character will cause “tension among the ladies.” Theories, anyone?

Back in our October Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Latest News, we reported that British actor Max Ryan had scored a plum role as Rikard, a Danish architect who makes a love connection (or maybe it’s a lust connection!?) with our sultry PR maven, Samantha Jones. With the SATC movie sequel now in post-production, the debonair 43-year-old tells Hollywood Life exclusively that it wasn’t easy to keep up with Kim Cattrall’s sexy alter-ego. Attending the Global Green USA pre-Oscar party on March 3, he said, “It was a challenge. I have to be honest with you.”

We’ll have to wait until May 28 to find out whether Samantha and Rikard steam up the big screen, but it appears that the architect won’t be the only gentleman vying for her attention. In its February 2, 2010 gossip, Samantha's new 'Sex and the City' boy toy: Meet Noah Mills,” the LA Times reports that 26-year-old, Baltimore native Noah Mills will be generating some heat with Cattrall when he makes his acting debut as Nicky, a “tough but gorgeous blue-collar type.”

For Mills, SATC 2 marked more than just his big screen debut – it marked his first-ever audition! “That was the first audition. I put a lot of work in,” he said. Don’t be surprised if Mills looks familiar come May 28 though. He’s enjoyed an incredibly successful modelling career for seven years, working for designers such as John Galliano, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors. I thought I recognized those piercing eyes and chiselled cheekbones!

NYMag.com offers a few more deets about the model-turned-actor’s role, reporting that Nicky is the construction worker-brother of Charlotte’s gay BFF, Anthony Marantino (Mario Cantone) (see Noah Mills Plays a Construction Worker in Sex and the City 2). According to the online mag, Mills will be in at least two scenes, but only one will include a speaking part. The other, says Mills, is “a potentially more awkward scene.” Hmmm. Why am I having Gilles Marini flashbacks all of a sudden?

Kim Cattrall Talks ‘Script Secrets’ and ‘SATC 3’

Since news of the SATC movie sequel was confirmed back in Summer 2008, fans everywhere have been craving insider scoop on the SATC plot, casting, fashion and just about anything SATC-related. As the worldwide appetite for SATC secrets continues to grow, it’s not just we fans who are anxious for the wait to be over. According to the UK edition of Marie Claire magazine Kim Cattrall will be more than a little relieved when SATC 2 finally premieres and she no longer has to worry about keeping the film’s secrets under wraps (see Kim Cattrall sick of keeping SATC 2 story a secret).

The online edition of the popular fashion mag quotes Cattrall: “It’s crazy. You really have to be careful because I’ve signed my life away to say I won’t tell.” The 53-year-old actress, who is currently starring in the London production of Noel Coward’s Private Lives, said, “It gets to the point where you’re terrified to carry your script around just in case someone catches a glimpse of it,” adding “I’ll be glad when the movie is out so we can all relax.”

But even with the pressure of keeping the SATC movie sequel deets a secret, it appears that Cattrall would happily sign on for a third instalment of the SATC film franchise. In its gossip, Sex and the City set to continue, BANG Showbiz reports that the actress recently hinted at the possibility while discussing her experience filming SATC 2:

“It was fantastic. I think as long as we have stories to tell. It was very interesting because we did this series for six years and we ended it at the exact right time. We didn’t repeat ourselves.” She continued, “I think we’ll tell stories as long as they are there to tell.”

As for rumors of squabbles on the set? If they did indeed occur, we’re not hearing about them from Cattrall. On the contrary, Kim reportedly told British TV host Jonathon Ross, “This second one, I can tell you I’ve never had so much fun in my life!”

Going Going Gone! SJP Auctions Off SATC 2 Premiere Tickets for Charity

As if we don’t already have enough reasons to love Sarah Jessica Parker, now comes news that the starlet has parted with her own tickets to the upcoming SATC 2 movie premiere all in the name of charity. According to Hollywood Life, SJP auctioned off her very own premiere tickets at the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) Greater New York Human Rights Campaign’s 9th annual gala held at Manhattan’s Waldorf Astoria on February 6 (see HollyAwesome! Sarah Jessica Parker Donates Her Own ‘SATC2′ Premiere Tickets to Charity!). A long-time supporter of the LGBT, Parker presented Time Warner with the prestigious corporate equality award. The two premiere tickets fetched an impressive $11,000 for the HRC which, with more then 750,000 members and supporters, is the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization in the country. Kudos to the lucky (and generous) bidder who is now the proud owner of SJP’s SATC premiere tickets! It should be the experience of a lifetime! (And if you’re looking for another to fan to accompany you, I’m sure that one of our ChicAlert readers would be more than happy to do so! LOL

Chris Noth Kisses and a ‘Big’ Tickle: All for a Good Cause!

Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t the only charity-minded SATC star these days. Less than a month after his on-screen love’s successful auction of her own SATC 2 premiere tickets, Chris Noth (Mr. Big) is upping the ante with a pretty alluring prize of his own. This year’s Miscast gala, an annual fundraiser for New York’s MCC Theater, featured an auction which included, among other items, a walk-on role on Noth’s hit CBS drama (and my fave new show!) The Good Wife. The New York Post has reported that Noth took things into his own hands when bidding began to die down. According to the Post, the 55-year-old actor leapt up from his chair and declared, “We’ll make it a nude scene. I’ll take off my shirt.” And if that didn’t sweeten the deal enough, he added, “And I’ll give the winner lots of kisses – and a good tickle.” In the end, the winning bid went for $6,000, money that will directly support the prestigious and innovative off-Broadway theater company. I wonder if it was the tickle that cinched it!

That’s all for now my fellow SATC fans! Stay tuned for more SATC movie sequel updates in the coming weeks as publicity around the movie starts to really ramp up. We’ll be bringing you “all things SATC” as we count down the days until May 28 when Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte are back in their Louboutins in theaters worldwide!

Sex and the City Movie Sequel (SATC 2): Latest News (January 2010)

Sex and the City Movie 2 Trailer

Greetings and Happy New Year, fellow SATC fans! It’s hard to believe that it’s 2010 already. And we all know what that means – less than five months now until May 28 when the Sex & the City movie sequel hits theatres worldwide! And what better way to kick off one of our first updates of 2010 than with a sneak peek at what is sure to be one of the blockbusters of the year? That’s right: the official trailer for the sex and the city 2 movie has been released! Take a look below and see what you think.

Our fabulous SATC foursome – Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes-Brady (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt (Kristen Davis) – are looking as spectacular as ever.

Sex and the City Movie 2: The Fashion

You may recall from our first Sex and the City movie update back in May 2009 that there had been some speculation as to whether the sequel would be as fashionable as the original. However, I think the Sex and the City trailer puts those fears to rest. Carrie | Sarah Jessica Parker | SJP | Sex and the City | SATC 2 | Movie | Sequel In less than a minute-and-a-half, we’re treated to plenty of glam and glitz, starting with a shot of Carrie in the +$200,000 ensemble (the chic short White Halston Heritage dress: $325; Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace: $198,200; Mykita & Bernhard Wilhelm “Franz” sunglasses: $299; Chanel clutch: $1,500; Gold Pigalle Louboutin heels: $3,200) that she sports on the official movie poster.

And lest we get the impression that our heroine has lost her sense of fashion whimsy, there’s a shot of Carrie exiting a vehicle in a Black “J’Adore Dior 8” tee paired with a voluminous purple and pewter taffeta skirt, silver bolero and tropical tote. I just love it!

Carrie | Sarah Jessica Parker | SJP | Sex and the City | SATC 2 | Movie | Sequel

We’re also treated to a ballroom full of high-voltage looks at what I’m guessing is the much buzzed-about Stanford (Willie Garson) and Anthony (Mario Cantone) wedding that we spoilered in our November Sex and the City movie update. There’s Samantha’s va-va-voom plunging Gold gown and sequined bag (with adorable top-hat wearing puppy in tow!), Miranda’s slinky Black and White show-stopper, Charlotte’s iridescent Black strapless with a feminine sweetheart neckline and Carrie’s, uh, Black and White cater-waiter ensemble complete with bow-tie?? Hmmm. Looks like it could be a “Best Man” outfit to me ;-)

Charlotte York-Goldenblatt | Kristen Davis | Carrie | Sarah Jessica Parker | SJP | Samantha Jones | Kim Cattrall | Miranda Hobbes-Brady | Cynthia Nixon | Sex and the City | SATC 2 | Movie

But it’s the more exotic Sex and the City 2 looks that have set my style heart a flutter! When we see Carrie and company draped in sumptuous jewel tones as they raise their glasses to make a toast against the Moroccan backdrop, my inner fashionista practically squeals with delight. All four Sex and the City actresses look spectacular! In other on-location shots, Carrie is positively radiant in a head scarf while Kim Cattrall brings the poolside sexy in a daring, blinged-out swimsuit that I couldn’t carry off in my wildest dreams. Of course, on Kim, it looks simply fab! As usual, Sex and the City stylist Patricia Field has served up the perfect combination of glam and whimsy. I think I’ll have to start going to more movies this winter just so I can catch the trailer on the big screen and get my SATC fashion fix in HD :)

Sex and the City Movie 2: Are Louboutins The New Manolos?

There can be no doubt that Manolo Blahnik will forever be inextricably linked with Sex and the City. But have Louboutins emerged as the new “It” Shoe on the SATC set? We already know that SJP is wearing Gold Christian Louboutin heels on the SATC official movie poster. And then there’s the report earlier this Fall by entertainment website Zap2It.com stating, “Word from the set is that Carrie Bradshaw has switched her allegiance to the red soles of Christian Louboutin.” The website speculates that a noticeable absence of Manolos could stem from some comments that the iconic shoe designer made last year. Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Blahnik said, “If people talk to me about Sex and the City, I get sick.” He continued, “It's sweet, but it becomes too much and I don't feel comfortable. I have never wanted to be a celebrity designer.” Referring to the first movie’s now famous $895 Royal Blue pumps with crystal buckle that were to be the first occupants of Carrie's closet in her new home with Big, the 67-year-old Blahnik admitted, “Well, we had a very good year last year, thanks to those stupid satin shoes. That shoe saved our company.” I don’t get the impression that Blahnik’s intention was to “bite the hand that feeds him,” but I can certainly see how his choice of words leaves something to be desired. As to which designer(s) our fashionistas will be sporting on the big screen come May (Brian Atwood? YSL? Jimmy Choo?), we’ll have to wait and see. Until then, I’ll be searching as usual for some up-close shots of the stars in their designer shoes! After all, everyone needs a hobby :)

Sex and the City Movie 2: In Morocco!

Beyond the fierce fashion, the Sex and the City movie trailer does provide us with some additional information – mainly, that it’s been two years since we last saw our Fab Four. And Carrie’s voice-over indicates that those two years have been pretty eventful:

It’s been two years. And in two years, amazing things can happen. Things you never thought would happen in a million years. And just when you think you've seen it all, it hits you ... you haven't seen anything yet.

Unfortunately for those of us who love our spoilers, the Sex and the City 2 movie trailer doesn’t give away any new deets as to what those “amazing things” are. We already know about the Stanford – Anthony wedding, and, since we posted about the Morocco shoot in November, the desert footage doesn’t come as a surprise. Of course, it does leave me even more excited to find out what (or who!) brings them there.

Sex and the City Movie 2: 80s Flashback

One thing that does strike me though is the scene in which Carrie is standing before what appears to be the bedroom closet in her old apartment. It’s certainly not the lust-worthy walk-in one that we remember from the first Sex and the City movie. I initially thought that this scene might be part of the 80s flashback sequence that we mentioned in our October Sex and the City 2 update, but it looks like we’re seeing the current Carrie – not 80s Carrie with the poodle perm. So why is she there? If you have any thoughts, I’d love to hear them!

Sex and the City Movie 2: Casting Rumours Continue

We’ve been closely following the behind-the-scenes Sex and the City  movie 2 casting rumors, and we’ve confirmed some goodies in recent months (Liza! Penelope! Tim!). One of the more exciting rumors emerged in mid-December when the Internet was abuzz with news that John Corbett would reprise his role as Carrie’s former flame, Aidan Shaw. Reports of Corbett’s involvement began circulating when GossipCop.com noted that the actor had been allegedly spotted in Morocco during the same time period in which Sex and the City 2 had been filming. Although the entertainment site stated that it could not confirm whether Corbett had indeed been in Morocco, it did take a firm stand on the truth of the Aidan rumors:

Yes, Aidan is slated to be in the film and he and Carrie have an indiscretion. That’s all we’re going to say, except that their transgression leads to a BIG move on the part of Mr. Big.

However, it appears that the rumored return of Aidan is just that – a rumor. Only recently the actor himself staunchly denied that he would be making an appearance in the SATC movie sequel. In an interview with AccessHollywood.com, the 48 year-old Corbett said that he will not be in the Sex and the City sequel, adding that he wasn’t even in Morocco. The actor explained that the alleged photos were actually taken years ago. “I was in Istanbul about six years ago and somebody put a picture up and said I was in Morocco,” he said. I have to admit that I’m a little bit heartbroken since the rumor had raised my hopes for an Aidan return. Despite the fact that I’m on “Team Big” when it comes to Carrie, I always enjoyed the character and I’m sure that Sex and the City writer-director Michael Patrick-King could have developed a fantastic love triangle for the big screen. Ah well, I’ll bet that he has something even better in store for us!

Sex and the City Movie 3: Rumor Mill

Is Sex and the City 3 already in the works? The SATC movie sequel hasn’t hit theatres yet, but the inevitable trilogy rumors are already circulating. In fact, in it’s Sex and the City girls in film No 3 story, Britain’s OK! Magazine is reporting that production on a third installment in the Sex and the City movie franchise has begun. According to the tabloid, the stars shot scenes for SATC 3 this past Fall while continuing production on the sequel that is due to hit theatres this May. The mag quotes an unnamed source in New York as saying,

There is definitely a third movie on the go. Those in the know realized a lot of the scenes didn’t tie in with the plot in the sequel. That’s where the rumour about them shooting spoiler scenes came from. But the truth is they are for the third film. When the girls signed up for the first movie, they actually agreed to do all three. It makes sense for them to film as much of the second and third movies back to back.

As much as I’d love to believe that Sex and the City 3 is in the works, I’m inclined to believe the Splash News report which addressed the rumor as soon as it emerged. The Splash News piece Sex And The City third movie rumours “not true” appeared on the MSN Entertainment website in November, quoting yet another unnamed production source: “[The rumours are] definitely not true. There is no script for part three, so they would not know what to shoot."

If Sex and the City 3 had indeed already begun filming, I suspect that we would have heard more about it by now. Of course, that won’t keep me from hoping that it won’t happen!

Well that’s all for now, my fellow Sex and the City fans. I hope that your new year is off to a healthy (and chic!) start. Please let us know what you think of the trailer! Yours, in SATC 2 movie anticipation!

Sex and the City, Designer Handbags

Designer handbags are as vital as breathing for the girls of Sex and the City. Remember the movie? Designer handbags are rented in the same manner as apartments and cars! So exactly what’s so special about a pouch simply designed to hold our keys, wallets and cell phones?

Sex And The City | SATC | Movie | Sequel

For starters, the bags of these high-fashion women cost more than can even fit inside their little pouch. After some research of both the HBO Sex and the City series and the movie, we were finally able to pinpoint only one purse that cost less than $1500!! The show decides to parade Carrie around in expensive Manolo Blahnik shoes and Timmy Woods bags only to have her return to a mildly dingy apartment. Sounds weird, right? Not really.

While this may seem like an extravagant lifestyle only seen on the silver screen, reality does collide with the show. In fact, it was Samantha’s desire for a Hermes Birkin bag that made fans realize that their favorite characters struggle to secure high end designer labels just like everyone else. Sex and the City exposed the $5000 bill and 2 year wait to obtain one of these coveted designer handbags – and even using Lucy Liu as a pseudo-name couldn’t snag the bag for Samantha. Women around the world could relate to having the perfect handbag out of reach but within sight.

Sex and the City has us all drooling over the designer labels; Hermes Birkin, Chanel, Fendi, Nancy Gonzalez, Louis Vuitton, and more grace the screen leaving us in both awe of their beauty and anger of their nearly unattainable status. But we must give credit where credit is due. For as much as the fashionistas of SATC relish their expensive toys, they are occasionally spotted at vintage stores that house no labels. Carrie even wore a “no-label” wedding dress on her big day – although she did balance it with the Dior Gladiators she uses to walk down the aisle.

Basically, a handbag is how a woman is presented. It provides the cover for whatever dirty secrets hide inside; the number of a guy you’re not supposed to be seeing, the makeup you pretended you don’t wear because you’re already flawless, and whatever else you wish to hide. Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha have it right. Make sure your handbag represents your style and how you want to be seen – even if you have to break the bank to get there….lol.

With 2009 now fast coming to an end, we’re getting closer to the Sex and the City movie sequel, May 28, 2010. I can’t wait to see what’s install for us when it comes to the fashion, especially the handbags!

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Latest News (October 2009)

Greetings my fellow SATC fans! It’s been a little while since our last Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel update and boy, do we have a lot of juicy details to catch up on! Since filming began in Manhattan on September 1, there’s been no shortage of behind-the-scenes buzz about the SATC sequel. So, without further delay, let’s kick off our over-the-knee Jimmy Choos (it is Fall after all!) and check out the latest scoop on our favorite fashionistas, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes-Brady (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt (Kristen Davis).

The Ladies Of Sex And The City Happily Reunite!

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Penelope Cruz Star Power Added

Hot off the press comes news that Oscar winner Penelope Cruz has joined the growing list of celebs who are adding their star power to the highly anticipated SATC movie sequel. The 35-year-old Hollywood A-lister was on set on October 12 at NYC’s Empire Hotel where she turned heads in a sexy long Black backless dress. According to People.com, Penélope Cruz Makes a Sex and the City Cameo, Cruz portrays a designer-shoe-wearing banker who catches the eye of Mr. Big (Chris Noth) at a red carpet after party.  No word yet on whether their scenes extend beyond flirtation, however, in its article Penelope Cruz To Star In "Sex And The City 2" All Headline News is reporting that Carrie Bradshaw is none too pleased when she catches the “promiscuity in action” at the event.

81st Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Fashion Smackdown!

They may have raised more than a few perfectly plucked eyebrows at the time, but those Miley Cyrus casting rumors that we reported back in August have turned out to be true. The 17-year-old pop princess was spotted on the NYC set on October 16, filming a much buzzed-about cameo alongside Kim Cattrall. According to Us Magazine (see Miley Cyrus Shoots Scenes for Sex and the City 2!), Miley brings Samantha Jones’ worst fashion nightmare to life when she appears at a red carpet event wearing the same designer dress as the feisty PR maven. And what exactly is the catwalk creation that would surely be ripe for the “Who Wore It Best” feature of our fave guilty pleasure mags? Leaked paparazzi shots indicate that it’s a strapless, fitted Silver-and-Gold disco ball gown – definitely a scene-stealer! Adding insult to fashion injury, the duo reportedly pair the sparkly mini with the same pair of Tan knee-high boots. Ouch!

Oops! Kim Cattrall and Miley Cyrus shoot a scene for Sex and the City 2 where they turn up for a movie premiere in the same outfit!

Speaking to Extra TV at the 2nd annual Concert for Hope in Los Angeles on October 25, Cyrus answered the burning question (for fashion lovers anyway!) of whether she got to keep the designer dress after the cameras stopped rolling. “I didn't get to keep the dress because they need it for Kim,” she explained. “But I got to keep the necklace. The necklace is cool. It's, like, these giant spikes, and I wanted to wear it while I was performing. My mom was like, ‘That could be dangerous. ... You can't wear that onstage.’” View the clip of Miley’s interview with Extra’s Terri Seymour here, Miley Cyrus Dishes about Run-in with SJP on 'SATC' Set. What do you think about Miley’s addition to the SATC movie sequel?

And what was the thinking behind Samantha’s choice of show-stopping attire? Sources such as MTV.com are reporting that Samantha selects the high-voltage frock in an effort to look “young and hot.” However, if a couture catfight ensues between the two fashionistas, it looks like it won’t involve a shouting match. Word from VHI.com is that Miley Cyrus doesn’t have any lines in the cameo, although the entertainment site notes that this has yet to be confirmed. As for the character that the Disney starlet is set to portray, it’s a safe bet that she’ll be playing either herself or her alter-ego. The giveaway comes from what is sure to be a classic reaction by Stanford’s love interest and Charlotte’s gay BFF Anthony Marantino (Mario Cantone). According to StarMagazine.com (see Details About Miley Cyrus' Sex and the City Role) upon witnessing Samantha’s red carpet “fashion don’t,” he cries, “Mother of God. She is wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana!”

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: From “Absolute Hunk” to the Red Carpet: Smith is Back!

Okay, enough suspense already. If you’re wondering about these “red carpet” and “movie premiere after party” events that have made their way into the SATC movie sequel plot, wonder no more! After much “will he or won’t he” debate, it has been confirmed that Jason Lewis will reprise his role as our fave hunk with a heart of gold, Smith Jerrod. In its article, Jason Lewis Spotted On ‘Sex And The City 2’ Set, Access Hollywood reports that Lewis was spotted on set on October 12 looking “tanned and toned” with a new “short, sexy cropped cut.” According to multiple sources including ExtraTV.com, it is the red carpet premiere of Smith’s new movie, Heart of the Dessert, that brings out our fabulous foursome along with Noth, Cantone, Cruz and Cyrus. Filmed at NYC’s famed Ziegfeld Theater, the dress debacle scene alone is sure to be an instant SATC classic!

Jason Lewis sets off to shoot a scene with Kim Catrall - his on-screen love interest - for Sex and the City 2 , shooting in New York City

As to whether Samantha Jones reignites the flame with her former beau, your guess is as good as mine. However, he may be in for some tough competition. NYDailyNews.com is reporting that British actor Max Ryan has been tapped to play Rikard, the Danish architect that we spoilered back in August. At the time, I wondered if the character might be a new love interest for Carrie Bradshaw, but it turns out that Samantha Jones will be the object of this hottie’s affections. The 42-year-old Ryan has appeared in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and, most recently, in 2008’s Death Race. Of course, this won’t be the first time that our feisty PR diva has tangled with a sexy architect. Fans of the SATC HBO series will recall that Samantha Jones almost lost a contract from hotelier and future bedmate Richard Wright when he learned that she had slept with an architect who happened to be one of his close colleagues. Now there’s someone who I’d love to see in Samantha’s life again – Richard Wright! As much as his cockiness infuriated me, the sparks between those two were fantastic :)

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: A Cameo That’s A Perfect Fit

Although it’s just a cameo, this next piece of casting buzz has me more excited than any of the others. In its article Sex and the City Makes It Work With Tim Gunn, E! Online has confirmed that Project Runway mentor and style guru Tim Gunn will be lighting up the big screen when he appears as himself in the SATC movie sequel. News out of NYC is that Gunn began filming his scenes in mid-October, but no word yet on which lucky fashionistas will be swapping lines with him. One thing is for sure though: The uber-fabulous Tim will “make it work!” (Sorry – couldn’t help myself! :)) Hmmm. Could a cameo by Project Runway producer and host, Heidi Klum, be far behind?

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Liza “Puts a Ring On it”

If you’re a fan of Saturday Night Live, you’ve probably seen Justin Timberlake’s hysterical performance as one of Beyonce’s leotard-clad “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” backup dancers. Well, it looks like one of Broadway’s living legends is set to give Timberlake a run for his money in the laughs department. For months, the Internet has been swirling with rumors that Liza Minnelli would be putting her own spin on the Beyonce hit in the SATC sequel. Now comes official word from the diva herself that the rumors are true. In an interview with Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald published on October 14, Minnelli confirmed that she plays a marriage celebrant who puts a memorable stamp on the nuptials when she starts to belt out the 2008 chart-topper. Adding to the campy fabulousness of the ceremony, Minnelli will be backed up by two dancers in wigs “just like me.” I can’t wait to see her rock those Beyonce dance moves! The 63-year-old Liza Minnelli was clearly up for the challenge. “The choreography for the number is something I should have done when I was 22; it was really difficult but fun,” she said. “I like rehearsals and I'm an old broad to be doing this stuff at my age.” Kudos to Liza!

And who exactly is the couple being joined in such stylish matrimony? You guessed it – it’s our fave gay twosome, Stanford and Anthony! In an interview with the Las Vegas Sun, Minnelli gives us the complete dish. “The setup is this,” she says. “The thing opens with the gay guys (Stanford and Anthony) getting married, and it’s wonderful and everybody in the world is there. And I marry them! Then somebody says, ‘Oh Liza,’ or ‘Miss Minnelli’ or whatever, ‘that was just lovely. It was so nice to see you; thanks for coming.’ And I say, “Oh — oh, I’m not leaving. And that’s the setup for me to do (Beyonce’s) ‘Single Ladies’!”

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Fierce Fashion

It sounds like the wedding scene will be an absolute riot! I’m dying to see what everyone will be wearing – especially SJP. And if a recent People.com interview with big screen newcomer Nicholas Rodriguez is any indication (see Stars Reveal Sex and the City Wedding Scene Details), fashion-loving fans won’t be disappointed. In the interview published October 22, the Broadway actor and star of ABC’s One Life to Live says that the scene’s grand entrance by Carrie Bradshaw and co. has a “wow factor.”

“When Carrie comes out in the first outfit, you just have to stare at her. She's hot!” he says. Spilling more deets on the elaborate wedding scene, which was filmed in Connecticut, Rodriguez adds, “We shot for two weeks. It's a ginormous scene with a huge budget, and everybody is pretty much in it ... all of the girls and their spouses, Willie and Mario (Cantone), and another big surprise cameo, Liza Minnelli.”

Nicholas Rodriguez is tight-lipped about the identity of his character, divulging only that he is “crucial” to the wedding scene. Sounds intriguing!

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Will Less Equal More For Fashionistas?

If you grew restless in your seat during the first SATC movie, you’ll probably be a-okay this time around. According to Aceshowbiz.com, Kristen Davis (Charlotte York-Goldenblatt) has shared new deets about the film’s running time in a recent interview with MTV reporter Josh Horowitz. Asked whether the upcoming SATC movie sequel will match the 2 hour 22 minute length of the 2008 box office smash, Kristen Davis replied, “Oh no. This one is not going to be that long. It's like condensed soup.” However, it doesn’t sound like audiences will be shortchanged. When Horowitz asked whether “every minute will be meaty,” she was quick to reply, “Yes! And different, and adventure and rich, and like, there’s music involved.”

A potential downside to a shorter film for the fashion fanatics among us? Fewer wardrobe changes. Speaking to MTV about the number of designer dresses, shoes and handbags that our style icons will be sporting on-screen, Kristen Davis said, “There were more costume changes in the first one than there are in the second one.” However, I’m not too worried about feeling jipped on the fashion front. Discussing the shooting schedule, the 44-year-old actress revealed, “We were shooting last week - and pretty much for the two weeks before that - nights. All night." She continued, “Now, we were not doing a night exterior, but that's how many hours we needed to get these certain things done that when it comes out, you're going to know what I'm talking about. I can't tell you right now, except to say that they are HUGE scenes with like hundreds of people in them!” I’m thinking that elaborate scenes equal even more elaborate fashion. Sounds good to this fashion junkie. What do you think?

Sex and the City Movie Sequel Breaking it Down: Fashion by the Numbers

As we reported in August, SATC stylist Patricia Field has been squelching rumors that our Fab Four would be receiving a recession-minded treatment in the wardrobe department. Speaking to British fashion magazine Grazia, the eclectic stylist now famously stated, “I don’t use the recession as a reference for my creativity.” Lest there be any lingering worry that Patricia Field might change her tune, the proof comes from a quick look at just one of Carrie Bradshaw’s ensembles. In its article, Sex and the City Girls Reunite!, according to US magazine, SJP ushered in the first day of shooting in a stunning 3/4 length sleeved, V-neck, White Halston Heritage designer dress, an exquisite Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace, Mykita & Bernhard Wilhelm shades, a stunning Gold and Metal Chanel clutch, and sparkling gold Christian Louboutin pigalle designer heels.

Now, let’s get out our calculators, shall we? Halston dress: $325 (okay, it’s vintage); Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace: $198,200; Mykita & Bernhard Wilhelm sunglasses: $299 (the “Franz” model, inspired by Olympic ski champion Franz Klammer); Chanel clutch: $1,500; sky-high Louboutin heels: $3,200. While the dress and sunnies are admittedly affordable, the total pricetag for this single outfit comes to $203,524!

Sarah Jessica Parker films scenes on the set of Sex and The City 2

But Carrie Bradshaw isn’t the only one who’ll be decked out in big-ticket bling come May. In the article, Sex and the City 2: dresses and prices, according to Luxuo.com, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte will be getting the style star treatment in such lustworthy pieces as a $1,300 VBH Python clutch (Samantha), $795 Yves Saint Laurent Triumph platforms (Miranda), and a $6,650 Lady Dior Pink Lizard handbag (Charlotte). I think it’s safe to say that Patricia Field won’t be scrimping when it comes to creating the standout looks that we crave!

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis on the set of Sex and the City 2

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Barbra in the City: Not Just a Rumor Anymore!

Media sources including British Marie Claire have been quoting an In Touch report that producers have been in “secret talks” to secure a cameo for entertainment icon Barbra Streisand. The mag quotes an inside source as saying, “Producers are planning the ultimate gay wedding. They already signed Liza Minnelli and now they're in secret talks with Barbra Streisand about being a wedding guest!” Now comes news that the multi-Grammy and Oscar award-winning singer will indeed be part of the highly anticipated SATC sequel. And, once again, the dish comes directly from Liza Minnelli!

In the same interview with the Sydney Morning Herald in which she spilled the deets on her “Single Ladies” performance, the Cabaret star confirmed that her fellow diva would also appear in the film’s extravagant wedding scene!

This wedding celebration is shaping up to be a highlight! I’ll bet that it was SJP who came up with the fab idea to add Ms. Streisand to the mix. Sarah Jessica Parker is known to be a huge fan of Barbra’s, and, according to EW.com, was spotted most recently at the singer’s much buzzed-about performance at NYC’s historic Village Vanguard. Streisand performed the intimate concert for 100 lucky fans who had been selected from tens of thousands of contest entries from around the world. Were you one of the lucky ones?

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Mother Midler?

And last but definitely not least, here’s one casting rumor that we’ll be tracking with interest. While nothing has been confirmed, there’s been some speculation that Bette Midler will be adding her name to the list of high-profile cameos. The rumors started back in September when the divine Miss M was spotted on-set during filming of an '80s flashback scene. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, Midler’s appearance prompted speculation that she may step into the role of Carrie Bradshaw’s seldom-mentioned mother!

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel:  More Style Scoop!

As for the scoop behind those '80s flashbacks, SATC stylist Patricia Field gives the full skinny to People.com. “It was in the beginning of the movie,” the style guru explained. “Carrie was waiting to meet her girlfriends and she was thinking about when she first moved to New York in the '80s and how she met Samantha and Charlotte. They're all, in real time, meeting to go shopping. And in her flashback time, she is thinking of when she first met each one of them.”

Sex and the City 2 Timewarps- 80's Style!

Beyond the '80s throwbacks, what can fashion-loving fans look forward to? According to DigitalSpy.com, Patricia Field dropped a few hints in a recent interview with US Weekly. “White plays a big role in general because the movie takes place over seven weeks in the summer. But it won’t only be white dresses! I’m going for a new look, new elements on these familiar girls.”

Kim Cattrall goes back to the eighties on the set of Sex and the City 2 , shooting on location in New York City

And what better inspiration for “new elements” than exotic Morocco?! In her interview with People.com, the academy award-nominated stylist confirmed, “(We’re shooting) there for about six weeks.” She added, “You’ll probably see belly dancers and Bedouins!”

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: All Aboard for Morocco!

Carrie Bradshaw and co. may be getting ready to try some belly-shaking moves even as we speak! In its article, Sex and the City 2 cast filming in Morocco, OnLocationVactions.com says that Sarah Jessica Parker, accompanied by her son James Wilke, was seen leaving for her flight to Morocco on the afternoon of October 19.

The exotic locale fits with one of the casting scoops that we mentioned in our August update. At the time, we reported that the SATC sequel producers were looking for a “50-year-old sheikh.” But we now have a bit more info thanks to New Faces Model and Talent. According to the casting agency’s website, two roles are up for grabs: The 50-ish Sheikh Khalid, a dignified, eminent flatterer who “loves to be surrounded by stars and glamour,” and his “right-hand man”, Mahmud, an “elegant, diplomatic man” in his 30s to early 40s.

Between the casting coups, the overseas shoots and the ferociously campy nuptials, I’m more excited about the SATC movie sequel than ever! What do you think so far? With just a little more than six months until opening day on May 28, 2010, the gossip mill is going to really start ramping up! I can’t wait to hear the next piece of buzz. Until then, my fellow SATC fans!

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Latest News (August 2009)

In our post, Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Spoilers and Speculation (May 2009), we took an early look at some of the much-buzzed about rumors surrounding the upcoming SATC sequel to the 2008 box-office smash. With less than a year until May 28, 2010 when the SATC movie sequel is scheduled to hit theatres, the gossip mill shows no signs of slowing down. So, let’s take a peek at the latest scoop on our favorite fashionistas and try to sort the fact from fiction!

Sex and the City | SATC | Movie | Sequel

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Lights, Camera, Action! NYC Filming Date Set!

If your summer vacation plans include a trip to New York City, you might want to mark August 19 on your calendar. According to Production Weekly, that’s when cameras are set to start rolling on the SATC movie sequel. But don’t worry if you won’t be in town on August 19. The reputable industry resource indicates that production is scheduled to last two months, so we have some time to catch a glimpse of stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristen Davis, Kim Cattrall and Chris Noth if we’re lucky. Production Weekly also reports that the two-month filming schedule will include a two-week stint in London, so it looks like Big’s rumored re-location to England, reported in our May 31, 2009 post, may be true after all.

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: No “Sex” for Dubai

While production in New York and London is set to move forward, plans to film the SATC sequel in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are presenting some major problems. Multiple sources including the San Francisco Chronicle (see “'Sex And The City' Sequel Stalled”) are quoting an US Weekly report which claims that producers have hit a major stumbling block in negotiations with UAE government authorities. According to sources for US Weekly, the government is displeased with plans to base part of the plot in Dubai. Explains one source, “The UAE authorities aren’t keen on the title because of the word ‘sex’.”

Sex and the City | SATC | Sarah Jessica Parker What does this mean for the scheduled release date on May 28, 2010? Hopefully nothing. However, some online sources are going so far as to say that it could mean a delay in the SATC movie sequel release, see for example, BlackBook Mag’s article, “Dubai Bans ‘Sex and the City’ Sequel Production, New York to Follow?” The British lifestyle magazine, In2Town has even stated that the film’s release could be pushed to 2011, see “Film News Filming of Sex and the City is Halted.” Personally, I refuse to believe it. Until we hear otherwise from Warner Brothers Pictures and New Line Cinema, I’ll assume that Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha will be gracing the big screen next May :-)

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: The Script is In! With Four to Spare?

Another key development since our last update is that the script for the SATC movie sequel has been finalized! MSNBC.com’s Entertainment Scoop, ‘Sex and the City’ script is finished quotes an US Weekly report stating that SATC writer-director Michael Patrick King submitted his screenplay to New Line Cinema on June 8. According to the mag, King said, “I will be thrilled to deliver the sequel scripts to our four amazing stars just as soon as I finish checking them for typos!”

Sex and the City | SATC | Mr Big | Chris Noth For spoiler-loving fans like myself though, we may be in for a long wait before we know what’s really in store for Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes-Brady, Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, and Samantha Jones this time around. In the “Sex And The Sequel Script Secrets!!!” post, Perez Hilton reports that, in an effort to prevent leaks on the highly anticipated SATC sequel, five different scripts have been circulating, each with a different plot line. Perez cites an US Weekly report stating that Big leaves Carrie in one version of the script, while another version includes a baby for the newlyweds. Perhaps the truth lies in a combination of the two. As we reported in our May 31 post, Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Spoilers and Speculation (May 2009), the majority of early “leaks” have speculated that Mr. Big will lose his millions as a result of the economic downturn and subsequently relocate to London where he lives under far more modest circumstances. Once there, Big cheats on Carrie but then confesses everything to her, prompting her to head to London to confront him in-person. It is at that point that Carrie finds out that she is in fact pregnant.

Not surprisingly, the SATC stars are remaining tight-lipped about any twists and turns that might be coming our way. Kristen Davis, who plays Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, was recently asked about the SATC movie sequel while at a red carpet event in Sydney, Australia. According to NYBloger.com, Davis replied, “I’ve signed a confidentiality agreement. I’m so sorry but I mustn’t say anything that gives the plot away. You wouldn’t believe the things I’ve had to sign. It’s total lockdown.”

I love Kristen Davis. In addition to always being impeccably dressed, she just seems so down-to-earth and genuinely nice. Here’s a recent clip of the star answering a few impromptu questions from paparazzi news channel, Splash News, “Video: Kristin Davis Talks To Splash About SATC Sequel.” Of course, she didn’t divulge any plot secrets, but I thought she was sweet to take the time to speak with the reporter when so many other celebs might not have bothered.

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Casting - Who’s In and Who’s Out?

In casting news, there have been a few developments since our last post in which we confirmed that Chris Noth has signed on to reprise his role as Mr. Big. Noth was the last of the “SATC husbands” to commit to the sequel, joining Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt) and David Eigenberg (Steve Brady) who had already signed on. There’s still no word on whether Jason Lewis will reprise his role as Samantha Jones’ now-ex, Smith Jarrod. However, we can confirm that Willie Garson will be back on-screen as the fabulously flamboyant Stanford Blatch. Garson told the Boston Herald’s Inside Track that he “cannot wait” to be back with Sarah Jessica Parker and his fellow co-stars, but that he hasn’t seen the script. “All I know is that I have to show up and what they are paying me,” he laughed.

Sex and the City | SATC | Gilles Marini While we can look forward to the return of stylish Stanford as Carrie’s male BFF, it appears that fans of Gilles Marini won’t be so lucky. Marini, who played Samantha’s sexy neighbor Dante in the first SATC movie, has told TVGuide.com that he most likely won’t be part of the sequel. The Dancing with the Stars runner-up said, “It would be such an honor to come back, but I know for a fact that I'm not going to be in the next Sex and the City — or there's a 99 percent chance I'm not going to be part of it, I should say.”

Contrary to our last report citing an interview with Britain’s OK! magazine in which Marini said that he would definitely reprise his role if asked, the actor is no longer so sure that he would say ‘yes’ to the sequel. He explained to TVGuide.com,

In the first movie, Dante helped Samantha realize maybe she's not ready to be married and whatnot. But now she's back in New York, so is the guy going to go to New York and all of a sudden they're going to meet?” He continued, “I believe it'd be great if I could come back, but it won't make much sense and it's pretty much a story between the four girls. I don't know if I'd say yes or no, but there's a big chance I'm not doing it.

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Posh and the City?

Marini may be out, but one of the world’s most famous fashionistas may be in. Multiple media outlets have been reporting that none other than Victoria Beckham may be making a cameo appearance in the SATC movie sequel. In its article “Is Sex And The City going Posh?” according to the UK Daily Mail, the former Spice Girl turned fashion designer has been taking acting lessons with the hope of landing a part alongside fellow style icon Sarah Jessica Parker. Posh had been offered a walk-on role in the 2008 SATC movie, but had to turn it down because she was rehearsing for the Spice Girls’ reunion tour at the time. “She really wanted to be in the last movie, but wasn’t able to take part because of her commitments with the Spice Girls,” said a source. “This time she’s keen to take part.”

Sex and the City | SATC | Movie | Sequel | Victoria Becham | Posh US sources including NYDailyNews.com are reporting that producers are indeed eager to cast Victoria Beckham in the role of a fashionista, one that would no doubt suit her well (read the full article here “Victoria Beckham taking acting lessons in hopes of landing cameo in 'Sex and the City' sequel”). Although it has long been rumored that the 35 year-old covets an acting career, her roles to date have been limited to ones in which she portrayed herself. Beckham appeared on the big screen at the height of the Spice Girls’ fame in 1997’s Spice World and, a decade later, played herself in a 2007 episode of Ugly Betty, a show that she reportedly favored for its fashion focus. What do you think? Would Posh be a welcome addition to the SATC sequel or an unnecessary distraction?

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Katie Buzz

If Posh does indeed end up slipping into a pair of Manolos alongside Carrie & co., could she be joined by her real-life BFF, Katie Holmes? According to British tabloid The Sun, the actress, who is currently in Australia filming “Don’t be Afraid of the Dark,” is rumored to be in negotiations for the role of a feisty businesswoman. The article quotes an unnamed source who says, “The character they want her to play is a really ballsy, high-powered company executive who tangles with Samantha.”

Sex and the City | SATC | Movie | Sequel | Katie Holmes  As reported in Reel Movie News, “No Sex for Katie Holmes,” Katie’s rep, however, has denied the rumor, calling it a “totally fabricated story.”  Kate or no Katie, I love the idea of another alpha female going toe-to-toe with Samantha. Kim Cattrall is so fabulous when she goes into power mode. It would be fun to see her paired against a formidable rival.

But the Katie buzz doesn’t end there. This time, it’s British tabloid staple Katie Price who has been the subject of casting rumors for several weeks. In its article, “Jordan can’t get sex in the city,” according to The Sun’s TV Biz, the reality TV star and former model, also known as Jordan, auditioned for the role of Erin, a “naturally sexy” lesbian Irish nanny. However, despite reportedly spending thousands of pounds on acting lessons (see Mtv.co.uk “Katie Price Auditions for Sex And The City 2”) in hopes of landing the part, the 31-year-old failed to make it to the top 20.

The Irish nanny “with amazing breasts” is just one of several new characters that producers reportedly plan to introduce. According to The Sun in its story, “SATC casts its net wide” others include a 50-year-old sheikh and “sexy” Danish male architect. It sounds intriguing -- especially the Danish architect. A new love interest for Carrie perhaps? If so, I cast my vote for Aussie, Hugh Jackman. What about you?

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Hannah Montana Takes Manhattan?

Just when you think you’ve heard it all, here comes a rather unusual casting rumor. Canadian gossip maven Lainey (see “SATC 2 - Exclusive”) is reporting that pop princess Miley Cyrus is confirmed to be on the SATC movie set for one day. However, it remains to be seen whether the teen sensation will actually be appearing on screen.

Sex and the City | SATC | Movie | Sequel | Miley Cyrus Last September, SATC author Candace Bushnell confirmed to Access Hollywood (see ‘Sex And The City’ Author Wants Miley Cyrus For Prequel) that she has signed a deal to write two young adult books about Carrie Bradshaw’s teenage years. When asked who she would like to see as the teenage Carrie in the event that the books are adapted to television or the big screen, Bushnell reportedly responded, “I don’t know…Miley Cyrus!”

So, my theory is that if Cyrus is in fact on set, it will just be to observe. Of course, your guess is as good as mine. Do you think there may actually be a place for Miley in the movie?

Lainey has also served up a few fresh spoilers unrelated to Carrie and Big: a wedding for Stanford (with Liza Minnelli performing at the reception!) and a stint in jail for Samantha! Juicy stuff. As soon as we learn more, we’ll let you know.

Sex and the City (SATC) Movie Sequel: Costume Controversy: Pat Field vs. SJP?

Last but definitely not least, we’re thrilled to confirm that costume designer Patricia Field has definitely signed on for the SATC movie sequel.

Sex and the City | SATC | Movie | Sequel | Patrica Field In the past month, the media had been abuzz with rumors that the celebrated fashion stylist would not be returning because of a feud with star Sarah Jessica Parker (see for example, the recent Zimbio.com article, “Sex and the City' Stylist Patricia Field May Not Return for Sequel”). According to reports, Field was furious with Parker’s comments that, given the current economic climate, it would be “inappropriate” to showcase the designer clothes for which the franchise has become famous. When asked about the impact that the recession would have on her style choices, Patricia Field told British fashion magazine Grazia, “I don’t use the recession as a reference for my creativity,” prompting speculation that the influential costume designer would not be back for the follow-up to last year’s wildly successful movie.

Fortunately for those of us who have come to adore Field’s larger-than-life fashion sense, the legendary stylist has confirmed to Radar Online exclusively that she is “absolutely” on board for the SATC movie sequel (see Radar Online, “Patricia Field Staying On Sex and the City Sequel).” Referencing the alleged feud with Sarah Jessica Parker, she said, “I don't use the recession as a reference for my creativity. True. I am furious and had a row with Sarah Jessica over whatever? False.” She added, “Making up stories is a common mispractice, nothing new.”

Lest there be any doubt that Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha will remain the fashion mavens that we know and love, in its article “Sex and the City staying stylish, BANG media is also reporting that Patricia Field has no plans to dramatically alter the characters’ wardrobes. When asked about reflecting the recession on-screen, Field is quoted as saying, “I wouldn’t do it. Of course the four girls are going to be fabulous and flamboyant - otherwise what is the point? I want to do it the other way. I'd be like, ‘Forget your troubles.’”

With production on the SATC movie sequel set to begin in just a few weeks, there will no doubt be plenty of new plot rumors, casting updates, and behind-the-scenes gossip to discuss. What do you think so far? Are you excited about what you’re hearing? Let us know! Until next time, my fellow SATC fans!
